<jmcantrell>
i just realized that if you use foot as a server, every footclient window has the same pid (according to sway). is this expected? i have a script that relies on being able to get at the process information for a particular terminal instance. Is the only option going back to using foot without a server?

jmcantrell: yes, it's kind of the whole point with the server/client mode, to keep everything in the same process.
<dnkl>
anarcat: not sure about that script, but yes \033]0;$title\007 works
<dnkl>
you can see all supported escapes in foot-ctlseqs(7)

<dnkl> "Jeremy Cantrell: yes, it's..." <- What about the pid of footclient though?
<jmcantrell>
It’s easy to find the pid of foot server, but the only way to find the pid of a process occupying a sway container is through get_tree
<beerman>
Jeremy Cantrell: just an fyi: matrix features don't translate too well into a native irc room. quoting looks kinda wonky, imo
<jmcantrell>
tim: ok thanks. I’ll avoid quoting
<beerman>
maybe its just me, so no worries, I just like to not do it myself because you never know how people react to it. sorry for the off topic :)
<jmcantrell>
i appreciate it. i wasn't aware of how it looked, but i was pretty sure irc would not support such a thing. i had hoped that the bridge might do some sort of translation to make it look better
<sterni>
it's okay imo, but unnecessarily noisy and confusing if the message you are replying to is clear without the quote (i.e. recent)
