<MisterMinister>
Greetings and Salutations! Has anyone tried using FFmpeg with RIST protocol? Couldn't find any CLI samples on mailing lists and Google won't show anything coherent with `ffmpeg -i rist ://...` Transmit is running with `-f mpegts rist://225.5.5.5:25000`, but can't get receiver instance to pick up the feed :/

https://jpst.it/3DEf0 am i to understand that these are 2 different codecs?
<microchip_>
yes
<aaabbb>
microchip_: huh? but they're both h264+aac
<aaabbb>
they both use h264 high profile for video and aac-lc for audio
<evilscreww>
why did i get 2 completely different results for both
<aaabbb>
evilscreww: what do you mean?
<aaabbb>
they're different videos
<aaabbb>
it makes sense that you would get different results
<evilscreww>
it just seems odd
<evilscreww>
hang on let me check again
<evilscreww>
ohhhhhhhh
<evilscreww>
i think i know. the 7 minute long one i made in imovie for iphone or something iirc
<evilscreww>
from a meddly of about a dozen cips
<aaabbb>
one said imovie yes
<evilscreww>
one of the initial clips was the first probe there.
<aaabbb>
both of them are h264 and aac
<evilscreww>
i guss thats why its saying nothing found for stream 2,3,4 cause there was nothing put there
<evilscreww>
that got me scratching my head
<aaabbb>
the "core media metadata" thing?
<evilscreww>
anyway i did a concat demux with them and ended up with a 7 min 21 second total clip, but from imovie it was 7:15 min long strangely enough
<evilscreww>
i wonder if it re-encoded the frame rate in imovie
<evilscreww>
aaabbb: yeh that

<evilscreww>

<aaabbb>
the file format used by the concat demuxer
<evilscreww>
should i upload to youtube as mp4 or ts
<evilscreww>
or it doesnt make a diff?
<galad>
I won't
<galad>
but why ts?

does ffmpeg have a vp6 encoder?
<aaabbb>
i don't think so, just a decoder afaik

game hacking I guess?
<JEEB>
since some old game engines utilize the format
<JEEB>
anyways, hobbyist could still implement such an encoder :)

is vp6 a particularly simple codec?

how do I modify this so that foo is only 15% instead of 50% opaque and so that bar is shifted down 35px, truncating the over flow of 35 px? -i foo.mov -i bar.mp4 -lavfi blend=all_opacity=0.5 baz.mkv
<kmikita>
While encode "-c:v mpeg4 -bf 2", ffmpeg make open GOP (default state) that ends by b-frame (i.e. GOP: IBBPBBPBBPBB 12 CLOSED), but it cause playback problem on hw-players (needs last frame "P" in group, GOP: IBBPBBPBBPBP 12 CLOSED). "-flags +cgop" require "-sc_threshold 1000000000" for mpeg4 (libxvid handle fine) to fix compability with standalone hardware. It is disable scenecut that not efficient. MSG "closed gop with scene change
<kmikita>
detection are not supported yet, set threshold to 1000000000".
<kmikita>
Is this a investigated issue and how to add b-frames to mpeg4 correctly?
<aaabbb>

Did encoding ffv1 using 2 pass and a bit depth higher than 10 ever worked, or is it a regression? I found a ticket on trac but no answer: https://trac.ffmpeg.org/ticket/10646

Hi. I'm trying to hardcode subs into a video, downsample it to 640x360 hx264 baseline, and ensure the japanese-language audio is picked. Have a script to generate the command line for this, usually it works but for some reason this time I get '[sost#0:2 @ 0x5b6b8de78c00] Automatic encoder selection failed Default encoder for format mp4 (codec none) is probably disabled. Please choose an encoder
<hseg>
manually.'
<hseg>
Command line is ffmpeg -i 'Mobile Suit Gundam 00 - A Wakening of the Trailblazer (720p - DUAL Audio).mkv' -y -c:v libx264 -profile:v baseline -level:v 4.0 -pix_fmt yuv420p -vf 'scale=640:360, subtitles=force_style=Fontsize=100:f='\''Mobile Suit Gundam 00 - A Wakening of the Trailblazer (720p - DUAL Audio).mkv'\''' -map 0:v -c:a aac -ac 2 -af anull -map '0:m:language:jpn?'
<hseg>
'/home/gesh/Downloads/1#temp//Mobile Suit Gundam 00 - A Wakening of the Trailblazer (720p - DUAL Audio).mp4'
<bray90820>
One more question is there a way to just remove just stuff at the begining witghout needing to spesify an end time so it just outputs the rest of the file
<bray90820>
if you understand what I mean
