For some unknown reason the kernel build is taking significantly longer
<davidlt[m]>
djdelorie: you might want to check your board
<davidlt[m]>
It did finish (just now), but with +6 hours or something like that from what I expected.
<djdelorie>
it looks like it's running normally...
<djdelorie>
up 192 days though, maybe a clean reboot would help?
<davidlt[m]>
it's the 1st build that was out of the normal, so not sure
<davidlt[m]>
I will test it later. Time for a morning walk (need to hunt for some coffee too, ran out).
<davidlt[m]>
The only time of the day to avoid this heat wave :/
<djdelorie>
maybe you're just spoiled by fast builds :-)
<davidlt[m]>
Well, I plan on how long builds take :)
<davidlt[m]>
I get two slots a day to fix something on the kernel builds if things align :)
zsun has quit [Remote host closed the connection]
jcajka has joined #fedora-riscv
<rwmjones>
morning
<davidlt[m]>
morning
<davidlt[m]>
Okay, now I am somewhat happy with LEDS with v5.18.8, but want to redo RGB PWM LED once we move to v5.19
<davidlt[m]>
Ha, I did enable dmatest module, but it's still missing :/
<davidlt[m]>
It has CONFIG_DMATEST=m
<davidlt[m]>
I see in the logs: extracting debug info from /builddir/build/BUILDROOT/kernel-5.18.8-200.0.riscv64.fc33.riscv64/lib/modules/5.18.8-200.0.riscv64.fc33.riscv64/internal/drivers/dma/dmatest.ko
<davidlt[m]>
ah, that's kernel-modules-internal
<davidlt[m]>
Which is for Red Hat internal use :)
<davidlt[m]>
It seems to contains all the kernel modules for testing, torturing, etc.
<davidlt[m]>
There is more more thing to test, i.e. firmware in SPI-NOR Flash instead of SD card.
<davidlt[m]>
But I want to build the uboot natively on my board to extract some information
<davidlt[m]>
The current uboot-tools does not build default environment, I wonder if I could embedded that by default.
<davidlt[m]>
I haven't seen this note on SiFive Unmatched webpage: NOTE: Due to incredible customer demand, we quickly sold out of our production run of HiFive Unmatched boards; with COVID-related supply chain issues, we have decided to focus on the upcoming, more powerful development system based on the Horse Creek SoC and platform co-developed with Intel rather than trying to restart HiFive Unmatched production.
