rwmjones: could you check if your boards are all OK? Seems OK, just one to make sure no strange things are on dmesg/console before building opensbi/u-boot/kernel (yes, it's time to do some updates!).
<rwmjones>
davidlt[m]: one sec
<rwmjones>
davidlt[m]: I'm going to reboot them all, they don't look good, is that ok?
<rwmjones>
davidlt[m]: should be good now
<davidlt[m]>
rwmjones: yeah, it's OK. I haven't started anything.
<davidlt[m]>
rwmjones: btw, I already released 14 servers back to GCC Compile Farm. Probably will get their OpenStack account this or the next week.

<rwmjones>
davidlt[m]: when will you start the builds? I may need to reboot five & jive again to fix the fan on jive which is grinding
<davidlt[m]>
rwmjones: most likely later today or tomorrow
<davidlt[m]>
rwmjones: just tell me when I can send the koji job and that's fine
<davidlt[m]>
Mainly I want to get opensbi (Anup is pulling in some patches right now) + u-boot (2022.07-rcX to get some PCIe fixes for Unmatched) + kernel 5.18.X (does incl. PCIe and DT fixes for Unmatched, incl. full PMIC enablement).
<rwmjones>
just that I have to give a talk in a couple of hours, so if was started now + 4 hours that'd be better
<davidlt[m]>
Just a new image before I destroy everything.
<rwmjones>
(it started grinding when I rebooted)
<davidlt[m]>
rip those fans off, just use standard 120mm or 140mm fans with some stand offs
<rwmjones>
on the same topic, would love to take these two machines _out_ of rotation, and use the two unmatched machines instead
<davidlt[m]>
I bought some 40, 45, 50 mm hex standoffs and I love them
<davidlt[m]>
Yeah, so this update would be exactly for that.
<davidlt[m]>
Maybe to bring those PCIe fixes within the kernel and u-boot
<rwmjones>
can you do the builds now + 4 hours, and I'll make sure they're booted up before then?
<davidlt[m]>
But there are gazillions of more fixes since the last image, thus 5.18.X
<davidlt[m]>
I will wait
<rwmjones>
ok thanks
<davidlt[m]>
Just ping me once all is good to go
<rwmjones>
I'm going to power them off now, but I'll power them back up after 4.30pm here (after the talk)
<rwmjones>
and I'll ping you
<davidlt[m]>
Or just power them down now and I will see in Koji once they are back online
<rwmjones>
I've written myself a post-it note
<rwmjones>
ok back to the talk prep ...
<davidlt[m]>
I reached new level in my life: used a nail scissors to short pins on SPI flash on my PineBook Pro (arm64 laptop) to get it into maskrom mode after I wrote new firmware to a wrong offset to save it :)
<davidlt[m]>
That DIP switch on Unleashed/Unmatched to use microSD card is way more convenient to recover :)

hehe, I used a SOIC-8 clip over the flash plus a jumper wire, I had exactly the same problem :-)

davidlt[m]: bring both boards up right now, will be a few mins
<davidlt[m]>
rwmjones: ok
<rwmjones>
davidlt[m]: just wait a min til I ping you that they're ready, because i might need to restart kojid
<rwmjones>
davidlt[m]: ok, should be all good now
