<davidlt[m]> Yeah, AIA is not even frozen or ratified. I am not extremely concerned about AIA, IOMMU, etc. bits as those are mainly drivers.
<davidlt[m]> psABI and Profiles defines our potential binary ISA baselines.
<davidlt[m]> Also the ISA strings will become quite long, this will be a bit hard to manage.
<davidlt[m]> A lot of stuff in Profiles is mandatory, but I am not sure that will scale. Some things could be "supported optional" and just handled at run-time.

<edolnx> I'm really hoping that the goals of Platforms and Profile is to learn the lessons of the Arm ecosystem and not fall back down the path of making everything pretend it's a 80486 (ACPI is not the _sole_ way)
<edolnx> and that does seem to be their goal, but I'm really hoping we can encourage more communication between the hardware manufacturers and the software providers instead of a repeat of Aarch64 which has been a mess at best
