I feel like deleting them entirely is a decision better left to upstream but I have not put a lot of thought into it

slackware has been deleting them for a few years now. i've been deleting them on crux for at least a year now.

I reckon delete them and add a Pkgfile rule for the maintainer NOT to delete them to be honest. And groovy2shoes is right in my opinion because most of the time they are no longer needed these days

yeah, a package actually needing them is pretty rare. if vlc needs them, it'd be the only thing i know of that does.

I find httup pretty bad. Rsync is good, but git pulls in so much faster and I haven't looked into it yet
