<Isotop94> Did anyone already try to create a lxc template of crux? I thought about using lxc to test my port builds on a sane environment or are there better options? I already git cloned the iso and ports into it and thought about running `make bootstrap` to get a basic rootfs but this also seems to build the kernel.

<LittleLamer> i cannot install to much packages, for example - https://codeload.github.com/lm-sensors/lm-sensors/tar.gz/V3-6-0/lm_sensors-3.6.0
<LittleLamer> 404
<LittleLamer>  Not found
<LittleLamer> 404 - not found
<LittleLamer> all URLS with codeload not working
<LittleLamer> =======> ERROR: Downloading 'https://github.com/dunst-project/dunst/archive/v1.7.1/dunst-1.7.1.tar.gz' failed.
<LittleLamer> prt-get: error while install
<LittleLamer> so much packages have this URL..
<LittleLamer> htop - not download
<LittleLamer> oh...
<farkuhar> LittleLamer: it's a known problem. Apparently github changed its URL rewrite configuration recently, and the workaround we've been using to obtain unique tarball names is no longer supported.
<farkuhar> Most ports that rely on github have been using the modified URL hack as documented in https://crux.nu/Wiki/DealingWithGithub , but as of yesterday their servers stopped redirecting these URLs correctly.
<farkuhar> The core developers have been alerted (see beerman's recent posts in #crux-devel), but changing the Pkgfiles of every affected port will take some time.
<LittleLamer> thanks for answer

<stenur> dunno girls and boys, but 'curl -L -I https://github.com/crigler/dtach/archive/v0.9.tar.gz' works -- again?!
illyusgi has joined #crux
<SiFuh_> No
<SiFuh_> That's not the discussion
<SiFuh_> We were using the url but using $name-$version.tar.gz to bypass names like v$version.tar.gz
<stenur> sure, i just had to test with something expanded no, Mr. ;-)
<stenur> Hvaing said that: =======> ERROR: Downloading 'https://github.com/vim/vim/archive/v8.2.3671/vim-8.2.3671.tar.gz' failed.
<SiFuh_> Yeah Romster, beerman, me and a few others were using a URL scheme that allowed us to save as $name-$version.tar.gz to make it cleaner. Also sometimes two programs can have same version and that would cause conflict as on port might assume the previous port was the port it should be
<stenur> That works.
<SiFuh_> ALot of the github releases are just v$version.tar.gz or $version.tar.gz and we wanted $name-$version.tar.gz
<illyusgi> i could not read if somebody answered me aaa, the messages disappeared
<SiFuh_> A root fs tar ball
<illyusgi> yes
<illyusgi> does crux haves it?
<SiFuh_> Yes
<illyusgi> Pls, can you send me the mirror?
<SiFuh_> Download the iso, mount -o loop the iso to some directory and copy
<SiFuh_> rootfs.tar.xz
<illyusgi> Oh, good one
<illyusgi> Thanks! I will do that
<illyusgi> and sorry for my bad english
<stenur> That works; just replace the tag name with the commit SHA1.
<SiFuh_> lots of commit hashes to make there stenur ;-)
<stenur> Yeah. Well yeah, ... but couldn't that be done by a script?
<SiFuh_> That is also a hell of a lot of ports for repo admins to change
<SiFuh_> Yeah but you'd need to the commit hashes first
<SiFuh_> This is an example of the commit hash
<stenur> git ls-remote https://github.com/vim/vim | grep v8.2.3685
<stenur> c07f11e42fc2eac5e750bf05aa3030f9b02a22ca refs/tags/v8.2.3685
<SiFuh_> And an example without a commit hash
<SiFuh_> Actually why can't we introduce git like arch is doing?
<stenur> You must have a tag or a release
<SiFuh_> I see
<SiFuh_> Maybe something to let the guys know in #crux devel
<illyusgi> "pkgadd: package database is currently locked by another process"
<illyusgi> i tried to do "pidof pkgadd" but nothing appeared
illyusgi has quit [Ping timeout: 256 seconds]
<groovy2shoes> i feel like this is some bullshit github should fix, really
<groovy2shoes> i mean, we've got to do what we've got to do, but if you break everyone's scripts without warning, that's on you
<stenur> question seems to be "who is everyone"
<farkuhar> github doesn't seem to think CRUX packagers are a large enough population to merit inclusion in "everyone"
<groovy2shoes> surely crux isn't the only one
