When the first bullet point in the changelog mentions new support for i18n and translation (https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/pipewire/wireplumber/-/blob/master/NEWS.rst), there's a strong chance that the previous Pkgfile won't clean up the verboten directory /usr/share/locale. Indeed, the footprint for 0.4.10 has all these LC_MESSAGES directories that weren't present in wireplumber-0.4.9

the wrecker made the great and removed all manual pages from btrfs-progs. ah no, one remains. heh.
<stenur>
swaths of destruction whenever you look in detail. man that is such a pity.
<farkuhar>
one footprint is deemed too expansive (wireplumber), another is deemed too narrow (btrfs-progs). Just another illustration of the fact that you can't please everybody.
<stenur>
explicitly commenting out lines from a valid proven port pleases me
<farkuhar>
at least with btrfs-progs you might say he was following the wisdom of Saint-Exupery: "Perfection is achieved, not when nothing remains to be added, but when nothing remains to be taken away."
<stenur>
He has been shot down.
<stenur>
and he said that all humans when standing together would not be larger than a square kilometre.
<stenur>
Long time after Marx and the-other-capitalistic-side have "proven" that capitalism does not work out as it needs to grow and grow.
<stenur>
And fifty years before the club of rome published the last warning Limits to Growth
<stenur>
And now we've fucked it up.

btw, you know what pleases me? https://crux.nu/gitweb/?p=ports/opt.git;a=blob;f=btrfs-progs/Pkgfile;h=4afad89ec99867977a695c20b35172b698e63fee;hb=24e820a196123ee5355982b6acc359037973e187 take this Pkgfile, s/5.16.2/5.17/ and get http://sprunge.us/pC1NQX

i have no idea if you people are just bored or if you really are what you show to be but I am here just wondering how long we let stenur be that person before we kick him out.

stenur: "lines from a valid proven port" are not guaranteed to work for the next version. Just as wireplumber added i18n translations upstream (between 0.4.9 and 0.4.10), so too did the btrfs-progs authors reorganize their Documentation directory (between 5.16.2 and 5.17).
<farkuhar>
The previous Pkgfile worked without errors in the case of wireplumber, but with btrfs-progs it was pretty obvious that the earlier Pkgfile needed some edits. You might find it jarring that the footprint shrank so much in one version bump, but to preserve all the old manpages would require convoluted processing of ReStructured Text in the Pkgfile (an even less elegant solution).
