jaeger changed the topic of #crux-arm to: CRUX-ARM 3.6 Released! - http://crux-arm.nu/Documentation/ReleaseNotes3-6 | Logs: https://libera.irclog.whitequark.org/crux-arm/
<beerman> r0ni sure, but firefox did not depend on an overlay. llvm, rust, and maybe wasi-stuff needed it among others. so the updates you seek to do are partly located "upstream" with the x86_64
<beerman> i just had to check, i currently maintain 780 ports, just in contrib, by myself. i do keep care of compat-32 mostly by myself. and I also keep care of crux-core ports on x86_64. I do fill in for our missing member whereever i can.. but stopped caring for firefox. i don't use it.
<beerman> roughly 1090 ports counting my small public repository and my private overlay.. in my name. not counting compat or core ports or xorg ports
<pitillo> pffff... 1k ports... crazy
<beerman> not counting core, xorg, compat 😉
<beerman> i can't say i am doing that alone but two or three persons are still not enough
<beerman> pitillo well you should know about crazy i guess 😄 arm is just next level shit with all the adjustments and the speed impact and memory constraints and and and
<beerman> pitillo and btw, i am adopting more of romster as we speak. somebody gotta do it, i guess.
<r0ni> beerman as far as x86 goes, i have numerous machines i can use, they just aren't setup to do so (yet). I can't say whether I can even get firefox into shape, but i'll look at it all and see
<r0ni> most of my intel stuff is almost ancient now, so things of the firefox nature will be slow going there
<beerman> Just to make one thing clear, they are not insanely out of shape.
<beerman> Wasi is part of the llvn family, and its not updated to version 16 stuff, which should be the biggest problem already
<r0ni> i was not implying anything is drastically broken or anything, just a figment of speech. I've spent very limited time with crux so far, many things are new to me here. Just want to be able to help out in general if I'm able
<beerman> No worries, just saying. If you have questions just go ahead and ask
<beerman> Nothing is too complicated in here
<pitillo> beerman: true. Ancient devices support was a pain... and I prefer to forgot about cross... btw, you are doing an amazing job in CRUX and CRUX-ARM. Is romster finally retired? I saw a month ago that he came back after a long break
<beerman> pitillo: not really retired or anything. He says he wants to contribute again and then continues to do nothing.. he basically ghosted all of us for over a year etc it's just sad really
<beerman> All he does is gaming, really
<beerman> He called it quits once, then came back and now he is gone again
<beerman> 🤷‍♂️
<beerman> But thanks for the flowers
<beerman> ❤️
<frinnst> yeah spending his free time the past 15 years doing a linux-distribution.. what a selfish guy
<beerman> 🤔
<beerman> You did fine as well frinnst, don't worry
<frinnst> wtf does that mean?
<beerman> That you did a great job
<beerman> What do _you_ mean?
<frinnst> that you spend time badmouthing people and being kind of toxic
<beerman> I do? Really?
<frinnst> thats the impression i get atleast
<beerman> So sorry that you feel that way
<beerman> I've been closely working with Danny until he ghosted me, that's the truth, not bad mouthing.
<beerman> That he is having a second job gaming is the truth as well.
<beerman> I have no idea what you take from that, but that's all in you
<beerman> And just in case that you want to get back and help with crux feel free to say so, the point was about the project needing more people..
