having a M1 has changed my opinion on arm completely. The speed at which I can accomplish that which took me hours on an rpi amazes me, and crux is almost perfect for how I like to play in linux

r0ni: I can remember what took you hours on a rpi, took days in older rpi versions and other devices... the M1 doesn't feel like an ARM device IMHO
<r0ni>
it sure doesn't. It feels like what I imagine the latest Intel offerings would be like. Generally any time/power consuming builds are relatively quick. Something like webkitgtk would probably not even complete on a rpi, but it's like 15 mins on M1. My oldest rpi is a 2, and even simple things took hours to do. This thing still feels not even real, and I've had it since release lol

I used my wife's laptop... and Istarted thinking in get a mac mini and shutdown all my old devices... I have the first rpi laying around (powered off), but cb1 and cb2 are still there online. The problems are kernels, not updated and not maintained anymore makes things harder
<r0ni>
ya sometimes just better to move on to things where support is at least maintained
<r0ni>
even the VM for crux i'm using right now on macos is light years faster than my pbp hardware and it's only using a fraction of my machines resouces
