On the BBAI-64, is it okay to change some or make additions to the .dts files for GPIO access?

I am understanding a bit now and I wanted to try to put forth some GPIO access on the BBAI-64.

For instance, I saw that /sys/class/leds/* is where to use the GPIOs but making them has been listed on the chat of discord.

So, something like what is already available but in the form of "plenty" would be my way. Is that okay...is it okay if I make more GPIOs accessible? I am not sure if this is unamimous or final. That is why I am asking...

I see no one asking about it or even mentioning it recently. I am worried.

also...if people are supposed to be making things with their boards, GPIOs may be an easy way to access posts for people like me.

Blah. So, for instance, I am messing with this Infineon CO2 sensor. It works with i2c but there is an access pin on it for an interrupt.

It would be nice to have it turn on when gas is sensed and I want to push this instance for people learning like I am learning.

and if other boards have access to i2c and gpio, I can port it to those boards...
