<armbian-guest> Hello again! So i ran into a small issue here, i followed this forum post to change the kernel that needs to be used in the built image (https://forum.armbian.com/topic/7798-how-to-build-specific-kernel/?do=findComment&comment=58787) adding the desired KERNELBRANCH to the lib.config and the output log shows thast it was picked up "Kernel
<armbian-guest> Configuration Branch: tag:v5.10.13" but ultimately in the build image the used kernel is 5.15.75-sunxizero. Is there anything I am doing wrong? any advice is much appreciated :D

<armbian-guest> oh, i may have used the current kernel instead of legacy
<armbian-guest> i will check the correct one this time and try again

<Wolf480pl> Hello. Is there a place where I can find out which hardware features are supported on which board? I couldn't find anything like that on the website, the download page only says "supported", and "hardware notes" in documentation only exists for a few boards, but not eg. for ODroid-C4
<Wolf480pl> I'm most interested in USB OTG and Ethernet, but I'd like to know if any other periferals don't work too
<Armbian-Discord> <Werner> Such documentation does not exist because it is nearly impossible to test all hw features after each firmware update to keep track. Reason is our constant lack of (human) resources. So it can happen that certain features randomly break, mostly because of upstream changes.
<Wolf480pl> I see. But are there features that never worked, and are not expected to work?
<Armbian-Discord> <IgorPec> odroid ethernet must work
<CosmicDJ> Wolf480pl: you could compare the dts files (kernel.org in arch/arm64/boot/dts) and if any patches are applied at
<CosmicDJ> https://github.com/armbian/build and compare that with the official hardkernel dts files?
<ArmbianHelper> ^ GitHub - armbian/build: Armbian Linux Build Framework
<Armbian-Discord> <IgorPec> its not just dts, driver (component/features) in modern kernel could easily be "not developed yet".
<CosmicDJ> yeah you also have to check if there is kernel support for your peripherals
<Wolf480pl> I see. Does Armbian always use upstream kernels + patches in armbian/build, or does it sometimes use other kernel sources?

<Armbian-Discord> <cats> What's a well supported board with M.2 NVMe and a nice case? >_>
<Armbian-Discord> <cats> I like my rockpro64 but the M.2 nvme card sticking up is annoying
<Armbian-Discord> <cats> or even sata is fine
<IgorPec> m4v2
<IgorPec> nanopi
<Armbian-Discord> <Tenkawa> @cats you can get a L bracket for connecting it and then sideways if you look around.
<Armbian-Discord> <cats> I have the aluminum case which is nice, but I can't use the top half with it
<Armbian-Discord> <cats> And I know I can get an L bracket but it's still "eh"
<Armbian-Discord> <Tenkawa> I agree its kinda annoying (mine is sitting that way too)
<Armbian-Discord> <cats> I run docker for a lot of things so I never like using SD cards, they're way too slow for extracting images
<Armbian-Discord> <cats> So I just threw a 256GB NVMe SSD I had into it
<Armbian-Discord> <IgorPec> i am using 3 of those nanopi for arm runners
<Armbian-Discord> <IgorPec> they are good enough for assembling rootfs cache and similar
<Armbian-Discord> <cats> interesting
<Armbian-Discord> <cats> It's a slightly older board?
<Armbian-Discord> <cats> I also do have a dremel...
<Armbian-Discord> <cats> And a cutting wheel
<Armbian-Discord> <IgorPec> rockpro64 is the oldest i think
<Armbian-Discord> <IgorPec> this is kind of mid age board, not among latest. sadly powering is not PD. in that case things become complicated
<Armbian-Discord> <IgorPec> but its compact, has nvme, has fan
<lyri> hey guys, i have a question : is there a way to start a program by using all 4 cores on the allwinner h3 ? i'm using gstreamer and there's only one core in use. with the same command with the raspberry pi it's using all 4 cores? is there a special command or an option in the armbian-config?
<Armbian-Discord> <cats> hmm
<Armbian-Discord> <cats> it's almost impossible to get :(
<Armbian-Discord> <Tenkawa> <lyri>: how are you checking cpu thread usage?
<lyri> with htop: theres always one core with 100% of usage, when i use taskset its says that all cores are in use but only one is really busy
<Armbian-Discord> <Tenkawa> try checking with regular "top"
<Armbian-Discord> <Tenkawa> start it and hit 1
<Armbian-Discord> <Tenkawa> htop I have seen on certain systems depending on compile arguments/setup not showup right
<Armbian-Discord> <Tenkawa> see if regular top is showing all of your cores having usage or not
<Armbian-Discord> <Tenkawa> if not then yeah that's probably something that needs to be debugged
<lyri> i've tried with top and and typed 1 so i can see all cores : only one core hast near 100 % of usage, the others are at 0,2 to 1 %
<Armbian-Discord> <IgorPec> this is not a problem of armbian, but application
<lyri> <IgorPec> ok, but its strange that cpu usage of raspberry pi with raspbian and the same app with the same parameter has all cores in usage with the same amount of usage , so all 4 cores have 60 % load
<Armbian-Discord> <IgorPec> how do you know its the same ?
<Armbian-Discord> <IgorPec> run 7z b (benchmark of 7zip) on armbian
<Armbian-Discord> <IgorPec> and it should use all cores
<lyri> <IgorPec> okay
<lyri> i should mention that i use an old image for the bananapi m2 zero with working csi port for the camera
<Armbian-Discord> <IgorPec> kernel version?
<Armbian-Discord> <IgorPec> in any case its hard to diagnose where the problem is - build this gstreamer from sources, change user space, upgrade package ...
<lyri> Linux banana 5.10.43-sunxi
<Armbian-Discord> <IgorPec> that's very old, we don't deal with it for years
<lyri> okay, that could be the problem
<lyri> https://pastebin.com/FxM1G66J thats the benchmark output, i think all cores are used
<ArmbianHelper> ^ 7-Zip [32] 16.02 : Copyright (c) 1999-2016 Igor Pavlov : 2016-05-21p7zip Versi - Pastebin.com
<Armbian-Discord> <IgorPec> this proves my point, that all cores are used properly
<Armbian-Discord> <IgorPec> if application is compiled correctly
<Armbian-Discord> <IgorPec> or if some bug is not present
<lyri> ok i will try to install everything on the newest kernel
