<Tonymac32> La Frite boots anything that can handle the RAM limitations
<Armbian-Discord>
<rpardini> after a little firmware update, sure 😉
<Armbian-Discord>
<Tonymac32> Which is also from the vendor
<Armbian-Discord>
<Tonymac32> Much like my x570 AMD
<Armbian-Discord>
<rpardini> true.
<Armbian-Discord>
<Tonymac32> Needed a firmware update to have functional USB 😆
<Armbian-Discord>
<rpardini> and hats off to LC for that. I mean... compare to "petitboot" it's fantastic.
<Armbian-Discord>
<rpardini> delivering a working u-boot in SPI, with decent timely vendor updates which are easy to install is great
<Armbian-Discord>
<c0rnelius> To bad LC doesn't release anything of any consequence on recent HW.

<c0rnelius> Then there is HK with going big and just straight bombing in places. Its all very ugh.
<Armbian-Discord>
<rpardini> that Pythium thing, went nowhere? That booted UEFI straight of out of box. Honeycomb had few issues
<Armbian-Discord>
<rpardini> dunno how it is these days.
<Armbian-Discord>
<Tonymac32> Honeycomb had $150 worth of performance at $800 pricetag
<Armbian-Discord>
<Tonymac32> 😋
<Armbian-Discord>
<Tonymac32> I was playing with Sway on Le Potato last night, can recommend
<Armbian-Discord>
<Tenkawa> oh the LX was that bad?
<Armbian-Discord>
<Tonymac32> It's not bad
<Armbian-Discord>
<Tonymac32> But massively overpriced for a router
<Armbian-Discord>
<rpardini> CPU wise it's weak
<Armbian-Discord>
<Tonymac32> Which is literally what it is
<Armbian-Discord>
<rpardini> massive networking though
<Armbian-Discord>
<Tonymac32> Yeah, it's a switch SoC
<Armbian-Discord>
<Tenkawa> heh

<ManoftheSea> And I want it
<Armbian-Discord>
<ManoftheSea> How about the R6S now? Rk3588s, 1 native 1gbe, 2 pcie 2.5 gbe
<Armbian-Discord>
<ManoftheSea> For $150
<Armbian-Discord>
<Tonymac32> No mainline no deal
<Armbian-Discord>
<Tonymac32> That IC can rot in Hell until a vendor steps up and delivers
<stipa>
ppl will buy it regardless of that
<Armbian-Discord>
<Tonymac32> good for them
<stipa>
good until the point they realize it deosn't work
<stipa>
then it's bad
<Armbian-Discord>
<Tonymac32> everyone has to learn
<stipa>
to learn and to hope

<archetech>
dont see how 3588 can beat this
<archetech>
icecreamman is running kde/gnome on wayland on 3588/G610 already why the mainline fuss? it will come
<Armbian-Discord>
<joekhoobyar> Have not heard LFS brought up in a long time
<Armbian-Discord>
<joekhoobyar> Been like a decade since I did it last.
<archetech>
my daily driver on arm
<archetech>
and x86-64
<Armbian-Discord>
<joekhoobyar> ALFS, or tapping fingers?
<archetech>
I can do either
<Armbian-Discord>
<joekhoobyar> You learn more the latter way. But it gets old eventually.
<Armbian-Discord>
<joekhoobyar> But with ALFS, it’s that much closer to just running Gentoo
<archetech>
source distros never "get old"
<Armbian-Discord>
<joekhoobyar> I still run Gentoo on my two biggest boxes.

<balbes150> that's how easy and simple it has been working for regular Altlinux users for a long time. I downloaded the general universal image, unpacked, downloaded the loader file from my model. I sequentially recorded the image and the bootloader, with any standard program on any system (including Windows), connected it to the device, turned on the power and got a working system. I pay special attention - there is one image
<Armbian-Discord>
(more precisely, there are several images in the directions - server, desktops with different DE, etc.) general and universal, in which the user does not change anything to run. 🙂

Hi, i am really new to the armbian build script. I successfully built a test image for the orange pi zero and i want to build another one with different kernel configuration. but when i run the compile.sh script it gives me a warning saying "low free space [6.0G]". I am running the script on a ubuntu vm with 8GB ram and 32GB Storage
<Armbian-Discord>
<IgorPec> and how much free storage you have ?
<Armbian-Discord>
<IgorPec> df -h
<archetech>
it has 15GB just in gcc versions
<Armbian-Discord>
<IgorPec> if you use docker it will re-doit
<armbian-guest>
i am having 6.3G free space on the "/"
<Armbian-Discord>
<IgorPec> which means script works as designed 😉
<Armbian-Discord>
<IgorPec> you are low on space, but still it will make an image
<Armbian-Discord>
<IgorPec> unless you are not going to generate desktop with all things
<Armbian-Discord>
<IgorPec> then 6G is not enough

does the standard image with console interface count as a desktop?
<armbian-guest>
*count as an image with a desktop
<Armbian-Discord>
<IgorPec> no, CLI image should do
<Armbian-Discord>
<IgorPec> otherwise, in case of troubles, you know what to do - expand your VM disk drive
<armbian-guest>
yeah i will try that just in case!
<armbian-guest>
thank you very much :D
