[Discord] <mecoblock> that old drive was in my first server which was just my old windows pc repurposed
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <mecoblock> I have hot plugged adding drives. I think unmounting and then unplugging also worked without issues but I'm not 100% sure about that
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <menu> armbian half of the guide is written, working on macOS half now
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <menu> i haven't written docs on using avahi for auto-discovery, though this is *technically* possible, macOS kinda has a stroke

[Discord] <pookyfan> Tried this today and right off I had ~500 Mbit instead of 300-ish, which was a good progress. But then I found out I could enable RSS flag in `src/Makefile` which enabled additional RX queue on lan1 (no idea why it did not happen for lan2, it also seems that it picked different IRQ method for both of the chips, I also don't know why and what is the real impact on performance). I <clipped message>
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <pookyfan> needed to manually set RSS affinity for these queues and finally I got 915 Mbit/s which is ATH throughput I got on bonden lan1+lan2 so far.
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <pookyfan> Granted, I only had one pair of PCs to test on, when I'll get more I need to test if it manages (sub-)2Gbps, but this is for another day

[Discord] <pookyfan> It's strange though, 8125 chips are supposed to have up to four RX queues, why only two were available, and only on one of these chips?
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <menu> i've got it working, but cannot, for the life of me, persuade the damn `fstab` to cooperate
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <menu> can't guarantee it'll work, but it *should*
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <menu> i think everything up to automounting should work, i don't think the automount syntax is correct right now though
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <menu> i shall try fix it tomorrow because it's bothering me
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <.thenakedtruth> I guess it depends on the use case. I have issues with the **Rock 5b** where it just crashes under heavy load, either cpu or disk writes via an adapter in the m.2 slot. My feeling is that is a hardware issue. Had not time to run some tests on the **Rock 5b+**. But if there are no issues, I would go for it. Doubles you possibilities with this second m.2 slot.
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <.thenakedtruth> I will put in 2 x ASM2824 controllers where each has 4 x ASM1166 cards. 😎
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <mecoblock> crash like that sounds more like an power supply issue
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <gospod13337> I sure hope so its a power supply issue as thats the stress i was talking about
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <gospod13337> Did you try 5V 4A or PD?
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <gospod13337> Maybe temps are too high?
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <mecoblock> So something I now have found out is that showmount doesn’t work in OMV when you don’t have all versions of NFS enabled. I had only >v4 ticked
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <mecoblock> step by step getting closer to have it work on my mac
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <menu> ah, i don't touch OMV unfortunately
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <menu> if you can get it to mount from terminal you can get it to auto-mount, just *not through autofs*
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <mecoblock> for some reason AFP with netatalk seems to still be the most stable way for a fileshare to be accessed on my M2 Max. SMB on RK3568 has dips where smbd seems to hang and then fully ramp up again
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <mecoblock> wish I could use NFS but it just won't work 🙃
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <mecoblock> wish I could use NFS but it just won't work 🙃 (from macos, works great from linux and an ios app called owlfiles)
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <menu> does it not even work manually mounting from the command line?
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <menu> i must admit i haven't touched AFS because NFS *works* for me
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <mecoblock> yeah not even from terminal. I've tried your guide. One I found in the omv doc. None work on my system which is a pretty bare bones M2 Max running the latest macos
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <menu> that's odd, where do you get to?
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <mecoblock> what do you mean?
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <mecoblock> and it’s not like the whole of nfs is broken. Fuse-T also works
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <menu> are you able to see the export from macOS?
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <mecoblock> I am
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <menu> but it won't mount?
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <mecoblock> yup
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <menu> odd, we should move to #ID:854735915787878463
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <.thenakedtruth> I used various power supplies and cables. Happens with all of them. It is **no** PD, just dump power supplies.
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <gospod13337> I guess you didnt check volts and amps on them?
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <.thenakedtruth> I may did a long time ago. Cannot remember. I can do it again, maybe I get to it over the next days.
