Also it doesn't match with the nvidia devicetrees. There I can only find a only-1-8-v property is used instead

looks like there are still some kernel config options missing for it - trying to find the missing ones right now - my last tests were with multi_v7_defconfig as base and i'm now migrating to using tegra_defconfig as base for my nyan grate kernel testing

will let you know the missing options when i got it working
<hexdump0815>
i noticed some tegra-sor error now (with your latest grate kernel) and i think a bit earlier too - the screen blanks (maybe screensaver - will have to check) and i get the following in dmesg: https://pastebin.com/raw/ubMQRsqh

maxim: i think I ha similar patch or adjusted Thierry patched, I'll look tomorrow
<digetx>
hexdump0815: that sor error should be a standalone problem
<hexdump0815>
with those added on top of tegra_defconfig a grate kernel from today is working quite well on the nyan
<jenneron[m]>
if you use grate kernel in your builds you can update and use grate_defconfig as well
<hexdump0815>
i think the goal should be to get the nyan support upstream somehow, so maybe tegra_defconfig is better in this case? my main target would be mainline
<jenneron[m]>
yes, tegra_defconfig is better for that
<hexdump0815>
digetx: one strange thing i have noticed still - when i reboot this seems to confuse the chromebook somehow and it will not reboot and once it looked like it could no longer find its system
<hexdump0815>
if i shutdown afterwards and and boot it does not boot properly and if i power it off again and boot it will boot fine - looks like something is put into a strange state on reboot ... maybe i should double check all the other _CROS_ and other chromebook special options
<hexdump0815>
if i do a normal shutdown it is booting up fine afterwards - so the problem seems to only appear on reboot
<hexdump0815>
the problem is that there are hundreds of differences between the two configs, so its not that easy to spot what might be the cause of the problems ... i'll try to track it down further over time
<hexdump0815>
digetx: regarding the missing mixer entries with v5.15 vs. v5.10 - they seem to be back to the old state now in the current grate kernel - thanks a lot

hexdump0815: I'll add those options and send the sound fixes, thank you
<digetx>
not sure what's wrong with reboot
<digetx>
ah, wait
<digetx>
as3722 pmic driver performs shutdown, but there is no h/w handler for restart
<digetx>
so it should be soft cpu reset to be used, which is known to work poorly and cause problems you described
<digetx>
I'll try to take a closer look
<hexdump0815>
digetx: problem solved :) - CONFIG_POWER_RESET_GPIO_RESTART was missing - with that added as well reboot works fine and reliable
<digetx>
I'll add it to defconfig too
<hexdump0815>
yes - thanks a lot - this way we should be safe and ready for nyan with the tegra_defconfig now
<hexdump0815>
i also checked the dependencies fier lpae and it looks like only CONFIG_ARM_LPAE is needed in case one wants the full 4gb support and that should pull in all the other lpae options i had added explicitely as well
<hexdump0815>
but i think tis completely fine to leave it off by default to not get into trouble with other tegra systems and whoever wants 4gb can just enable it
<digetx>
yes, it can't be enabled in the common defconfig
