i need at least one more iteration for sure to fix some additional mechanical issues
<azonenberg>
but i'm hopeful it will be good electrically after this round

azonenberg, one step at a time as they say. It's important to also be careful not add too many changes per iteration. It can be harder to ascertain what went wrong when something does go wrong if one isn't careful.

<azonenberg>
So I'm still having problems especially on slower computers where waveforms from a picoscope show up too fast for glscopeclient to process
<azonenberg>
and they build up in a queue, causing latency
<azonenberg>
liek you touch a probe to something and three or four waveforms later you see it
<azonenberg>
Also, I need more RAM in my lab desktop and/or I need to make scopehal-pico-bridge more memory efficient
<azonenberg>
32 GB is not enough to run a few vmware instances, some other apps, and the bridge with memory depth turned up to 11
<azonenberg>
I'm trying to analyze traffic on a serial bus for work over a very... very... very... long time
<azonenberg>
Setting new records for largest dataset i've ever worked with in glscopeclient
<azonenberg>
Two channels at 500M points was OK, but 1G points per channel made the bridge OOM
<azonenberg>
now that i think about it, I wonder how my GPU would have liked that
<azonenberg>
let's see... 1G points is 4GB at fp32 precision * 2 channels is 8GB
<azonenberg>
my 2080 Ti has i think 11 GB so it should fit
<azonenberg>
I might want to reconsider putting a 3070 Ti in the new lab box though, as that only has 8GB
<azonenberg>
308x might be the way to go for massive data crunching
