cfbolz changed the topic of #pypy to: #pypy PyPy, the flexible snake https://pypy.org | IRC logs: https://quodlibet.duckdns.org/irc/pypy/latest.log.html#irc-end and https://libera.irclog.whitequark.org/pypy | the pypy angle is to shrug and copy the implementation of CPython as closely as possible, and staying out of design decisions

<mattip> is there any reason to wait with the release?
<mattip> there has not been a lot of feedback about the release candidate
<tumbleweed> no reason from me
<mattip> thanks
<mattip> cfbolz: would it be fair to add a highlight "a 15-20% speedup in the unjitted interpreter" alongside the many improvements?

<tumbleweed> arigato: just checking if you saw the issues I filed about cffi on pydebug 3.11. Not sure if they are pointing at serious existing bugs or just more pedantic asserts in 3.11

<fijal> heh nothing like browsing the internet for obscure errors and finding mattip digging deep
<fijal> mattip: have you solved https://github.com/numpy/numpy/issues/22673
<fijal> ?
<cfbolz> mattip: yes, sounds good
<mattip> fijal: it is a mix of using scipy wheels for arm64 and a brand new numpy, so if you can use an older numpy you should be OK
<mattip> (for the bystanders, it only happens with macos arm64)
