<abu[m]> Congratulation! Looks very simple now.
<pablo_escoberg1> Thanks, And it really does! The real issue is my first instinct was wrong and I needed to actually make my own pipe. IAC, I'd like to contribute a wiki article about it, but for some reason, I can't seem to create an account (permission denied when I try to log in).
<abu[m]> I can see login attempts, yes. Looks as if the PW is not accepted
<abu[m]> The user *does* exist with that name
<pablo_escoberg1> weird. I'm using the password FF generated and saved for me.
<pablo_escoberg1> REALLY? Somebody thought of that shit before me? I can't believe it!
<pablo_escoberg1> How old is that account??
<abu[m]> I think it is your account
<abu[m]> just the pw
<pablo_escoberg1> hmmm.... any way to do a reset?
<abu[m]> yes
<pablo_escoberg1> I never got a registration email or anything...
<abu[m]> hmm, I can set it and you change it immidiately
<pablo_escoberg1> sure.
<abu[m]> The user has the 'new' flag
<abu[m]> So never logged in I think
<abu[m]> ok, I've set it to the same as the user name
<abu[m]> can you try?
<pablo_escoberg1> OK, done. Changed the password. Going to log out and back in to make sure.
<abu[m]> Login succeeded it seems
<abu[m]> Perfect! ☺
<pablo_escoberg1> thanks. Question: Why is it asking me for a name and password now???
<pablo_escoberg1> Oh, nvm, it isn't really. there is a thing that looks like a login form but I can't click into the fields.
<abu[m]> You logged in, then out, and then in again
<abu[m]> You even have admin role
<pablo_escoberg1> Yes, it all seems fine now. Thanks. That was just kind of weird when I first logged in.
<pablo_escoberg1> And damn! I'm honored! :)
<abu[m]> I thought users are created with normal role by default
<abu[m]> no problem
<abu[m]> Ah, no! Wrong user
<abu[m]> You have the normal "Member" role
<pablo_escoberg1> Ah, ok.
<pablo_escoberg1> So you'd been right, and I'm no longer honored :D. Still very grateful for the help and advice.
<abu[m]> :D
<pablo_escoberg1> OK, I think I'll take care of that tomorrow. Getting kind of late and I don't want to mess up my first wiki article. Good night all.
<abu[m]> Sleep well!!
<pablo_escoberg1> Thanks, but I'm not going to sleep yet; just not in the state of mind to write and article. Rather, I'm trying to figure out how to use some form of vim to give me the kind of syntax highlighting I want for picolisp. I think everything out there just won't work, so I have a different rabbit hole to jump into. Thank god I have time :D
<abu[m]> OK, cool!
<abu[m]> You probably know: (vi 'vip~markup) is the place to look
<pablo_escoberg1> I'm working under the assumption that there is no LSP implementation for pil and that nobody has written a vim or neovim syntax file for pil.
<abu[m]> right
<pablo_escoberg1> Yeah, I may do vip as well.
<abu[m]> I personally don't like highlighting individual symbols in Lisp, so I never thought about it
<pablo_escoberg1> I just want matching parens to be different colors, symbols to be a different color, quoted text to be a diff color, etc
<abu[m]> yeah
<pablo_escoberg1> great. I
<pablo_escoberg1> I'm on it :)

<tankf33der> Morning
<tankf33der> pablo: you could switch to picolisp pastebin service, use to use
<abu[m]> Hi tankf33der!
<tankf33der> pb1n.de
<abu[m]> yeah, I wanted to recommend the same
<abu[m]> Also has the advantage that I don'd need to click on "raw" to get the source
<abu[m]> In Vip you get it with ":pb1n"
<abu[m]> (if you copied @doc/viprc.sample to ~/.pil/viprc)

<pablo_escoberg> So much to learn in this ecosystem! I'm going to slow down a little bit now, read more and be a little less neurotic. I was just so obsessed with the pipe problem that I put everything else aside. I have no doubt I would have solved it faster had I set up my environment at least partially first (I hadn't even set up command history in the repl, that's how single minded I was). So before I get any further on this or any other pil pr
<pablo_escoberg> oject, that's what I'll be working on. Any suggestions/gotos welcome. And yes, I know I won't get the vscode experience unless I'm willing to write an LSP server (probably not; seems like a very big project), but that's fine. I certainly prefer less polish...
<abu[7]> Good question on where to start first ...
<abu[7]> I always edit the repl history manually
<abu[7]> by placing lines into ~/.pil/rc and in local directories .pilrc
<abu[7]> same with ~/.pil/viprc
<abu[7]> and I feel it very important to set up ~/.inputrc first
<abu[7]> as I need vi-mode in shells and repls
<abu[7]> (just arrived in Berlin, can view here only from time to time)
<abu[7]> Do you want your history be *saved* upon exit? I actually dislike my history being filled withe everything I type
<abu[7]> If so, you could experiment with things like (finish (out "file" (mapc prinl (history))))
<pablo_escoberg> Thanks for the advice. I actually lifted the history source from the blog post about it. I used the global config, because for now, yes, I do want my history saved between invocations. As I learn the repl and vip more and leave the repl less, that may change.

<pablo_escoberg1> so, trying to implement sth like this: https://picolisp.com/60641/941138806637738~?vimconfig but it seems pilPretty and piIndent are no longer part of the distro. Is there a replacement, or is it all supposed to happen in vip now?
