<GeDaMo>
Is that a volcano?
<zid>
I want thorn and eth back, maybe I should start using them and see if it catches on
<zid>
I think tsu might be unique still though, even though the.. affricate? has a couple of examples now
<vdamewood>
Unique how?
<zid>
name another tsu word
<vdamewood>
Tsunomon, from Digimon
<zid>
boo, katakana name
<vdamewood>
Well, tsuno is a real Japanese word meaning horn.
<zid>
I guess horn, though
<zid>
without the kanji it could be approximately anything
<zid>
cus japanese is fucking insane
<vdamewood>
tsuitachi
<zid>
wikipedia doesn't even know that one, not counting it
<zid>
I'm 100% counting tsunami as an english word, I don't have a rule of thumb for whether digimon count
<vdamewood>
Oops. Tsukitachi.
<zid>
ooh tsar
<zid>
But anyway, if we introduce some ng words, it'll become valid eventuall
<vdamewood>
(By the way, Tsukitachi means 'first [day of the month]' in Japanese.
<vdamewood>
)
<zid>
yea I figured it was something month related
<vdamewood>
tsuki (month) tachi (stand up)
<zid>
My japanese is.. about as good as my french
<zid>
which is to say, I can guess at some words
<vdamewood>
Written, completely logically, 一日
<zid>
naturally, japanese being incredibly sane afterall
<zid>
"ichi hi? No you fool, it's this completely other set of sounds, but backwards, on and your pitch is wrong."
<vdamewood>
Oh, I looked it up. Tsuitachi is correct. Tsukitachi is an archaic pronunciation.
<zid>
oh and*
<vdamewood>
Also, if you were to join ichi and hi, it would be ippi.
<vdamewood>
For example, ichi + hon (一本) is ippon.
<zid>
I refer to my previous statement
<vdamewood>
Japanese assimilation rules are fun.
<vdamewood>
We are Kana of Borg. You will be assimilated.
<zid>
It's fine, in 2020 japanese won't have any kanji
<zid>
it will just be ME ga PINEAPPLE o EATING YO
<zid>
2020? 22008
<vdamewood>
Korea got it right.
<zid>
hangul is cool, but they forgot to use english words as the base instead of chinese
<zid>
thoughtless of them imo
<vdamewood>
Sejong was great, but not perfect.

vdamewood, zid: When Japan adopted hanzi, a number of words were taken entirely for meaning. Since most 'words' are single characters, this primarily resulted in a surprisingly large number of kanji with multisyllabic readings...
<klange>
... but even Chinese has compound words, many of which use similar concepts in their formations to words that existed in Japanese...

i wrote a """""bootloader""""" that just printed hello world once and that is the extent of my osdev knowledge

Nice!

It's a start, hbag :)
<hbag>
ehh, i guess, but C just frustrates the hell out of me so i feel like im going to hit another wall pretty soon
isaacwoods has quit [Quit: WeeChat 3.2]
<NieDzejkob_>
you don't need to use C. for example, my os only uses assembly and forth so far
<NieDzejkob_>
the REPL-y nature of forth meant it became self-hosting a few hundred lines in :P
