<kintel> feep Nice! From a personal perspective, more interesting than the project itself is perhaps the process. I'd be curious how Claude handles iterative changes when the code becomes less streamlined. Could you write a few sentences about your process, tooling and prompt strategy?

<kintel> First, find_package(Clipper2) is used
<kintel> ..then, if clipper is found, it's added as a new imported library
<kintel> However, this is what find_package already does, so why do it twice?
mmu_man has quit [Ping timeout: 244 seconds]
<kintel> Removing the mentioned lines seem to work ok here, but not tested with a Clipper only available through pkg-config

<pca0061325> kintel: the issue is pkg-config
<pca0061325> I should probably move the code to be specific to pkg-config
<feep> kintel is in standby or sth
<J24k57> teepee there is a slight convexity issue, but guess not so important -  nice candel ring
<J24k57> the candle holes also go to z 0  so no overlap - but for a product you would lift it to keep a wall (line 73) - convexity is in line 66

<pca0061325> I'm thinking if echo should print the numbers with higher precision, so people will not be confused like this...

<InPhase> pca006132: Then you get just as many bug reports about echo printing the wrong answers. :-P
<InPhase> pca006132: There's ultimate no shortcut around understanding the notion of precision when working sufficiently with floating points.
<InPhase> s/ultimate/ultimately/
<InPhase> There has been talk though of adding a print statement with improved formatting.
<InPhase> Hmm, although maybe it would be good for us to address this comprehensively in the manual somewhere, just so we have a place to point people to without reexplaining it so often. And to increase the probability that people will encounter it. While it's identical to issues in other languages, we pick up a lot of users without experience of this issue in other languages.
<InPhase> Therefore I think we have a higher justification for explaining it out a bit in our documentation, enough to explain the basic principle and avoid the gotchas, and then maybe linking or referring to something external for more information.

<teepee> J24k57: hull() was not introduced, but I think that's fine, and the rounded shape is nicer too.
<teepee> I suppose we should remove the OLD module before it goes live
<J24k57> yes i know - thought we doing that as in all other parts we used things that were explained later
<teepee> cbmuser: yeah I've not running matrix for a while, nothing happened there
<J24k57> but we could use a square - the rotate_extrude comes with convexity =2 so that was a work around this
califax has joined #openscad
<teepee> yes, I think one day next week for chain-hull seems like a good idea
<J24k57> (i asked for deleting one of the modules in the description when submitting)
<teepee> ah, I did not see the comment yet
<J24k57> offset would work too but that is also new iirc
<J24k57> and building a rounded polygon would be a bit complex i think
<teepee> yep, probably too much for a single tutorial part
<teepee> plus we have 5 more tutorial days to fill
<teepee> ok, dropped the old module, regenerating the images
<teepee> thanks for the update, I hope that first 10 parts are a reasonable introduction with some sort of finishing point
<teepee> the remaining 5 could be just various more advanced topic or anything else we want to show
<J24k57> https://bpa.st/66UQ  probably not ideal for a tutorial at that point
