<linext> i'm just watching the windows build process on github
<peepsalot> is it more fun than watching paint dry?
<linext> i can see some of how it works

<peepsalot> teepee: are you able to see a log of the last *successful* OBS build on a debian distro? I wanted to compare it with the failed ones to see if there were any hints, but I can't see a way to view past builds

<buZz> i think many projects now do so, Scopeuk
<Scopeuk> it's a done thing, particularly with good availability of linux ci and poor availability of windows ci (better than osx). but it does add a layer of complexity
<teepee> true, but it also removes one :)
<Scopeuk> there is no doubt that it is the correct solution
<teepee> lets say, it's the best solution we have working :D

<peepsalot> teepee: are you able to see a log of the last *successful* OBS build on a debian distro? I wanted to compare it with the failed ones to see if there were any hints, but I can't see any way to view past builds
<peepsalot> (i asked the same thing about 12 hrs ago, but pretty sure you were sleeping, plus your client ping timed out immediately after)
<teepee> there's an answer 5h ago :) - no, I don't see a way to do that
<teepee> but I disabled the cmake patch adding one more library as dependency and that seems to have fixed the debian prepare step
<teepee> but there's still a couple of failures stragely in some cases platform specific
<teepee> peepsalot: ^
<peepsalot> teepee: an answer 5hrs ago, from you, in this channel? its not in my scrollback or in whitequark logs?
<teepee> strange, not seeing that anywhere, there's a disconnect 10 minutes later
<teepee> I thought the ping timeouts were like 3 minutes or so
<teepee> https://imgur.com/L7B2HKR not even picked up by the logbot
<peepsalot> weird
<teepee> uh, ZNC indeed has: [11:41:34] *** Quits: teepee (~teepee@openscad/teepee) (bye...)
<JordanBrown[m]> Didn’t make it to Matrix either.
<peepsalot> the reason I ask btw, is because it seems like our github CI for ubuntu 18.04 is depending on lib3mf from your OBS
<teepee> oh, why is that repo gone :(
<teepee> wtf
<teepee> that repo vanished completely
<teepee> I do have a local copy, lets see if I can push that back
<teepee> I guess we can drop the ubuntu 14.04 version :D
<teepee> oh, interesting... "A project with the same name existed in the past. You can restore the old state instead of starting from scratch."
<teepee> indeed, it did
<teepee> " Project 'home:t-paul:lib3mf' was restored successfully "
<peepsalot> heh... yay?
<teepee> I hope so, all building, we'll know in a couple of minutes
<teepee> maybe some sort of archive process
<teepee> afk for a bit, hopefully coming back to nicely fresh built lib3mf packages :)

<peepsalot> teepee: I don't understand OBS at all. the xubuntu 18.04 status still says unresolvable? but i guess you restarted my PR build and looks like it is working fine
<peepsalot> also, i was curious about the failure of xubuntu 20.04, and looks like an out of memory issue for build type relwithdebinfo. i see a make -j8. may need to lower that?
<peepsalot> teepee: do any of the OBS builds actually use any of the build scripts like setenv* , release-common.sh, etc. ?
<teepee> that's the openscad build itself, due to the debian.compat version I bumped from 9 to 10. looks like ubuntu 18.04 only provides 9
<teepee> I don't think OBS uses any of those scripts
<teepee> both Debian and RPM builds are more aligned with the repo tooling for package building
<peepsalot> ok yeah i figured that was the case with thte scripts
<peepsalot> teepee: so is the 18.04 openscad repo able to set a different compat from the others?
<peepsalot> i wonder if anyone is even using that still. you don't get any kind of download analytics for packages do you?
<teepee> in theory it's possible to create distro specific setups but I never could make that work
<teepee> not sure anymore about the unresolv message, it might mean they dropped that on OBS side
<teepee> although it still shows up and it did build for lib3mf so it's a bit strange

<peepsalot> teepee: on the subject of missed messages. did you see me asking about the windows test packaging a couple days ago? I am trying to move more of that monster release-common.sh into cmake/cpack
ur5us has joined #openscad
<teepee> test packaging?
<peepsalot> <peepsalot> the last 1/4 of scripts/release-common.sh is specifically for packaging cross-built tests from MXE to run under windows environment. have we ever published these
<teepee> I remember some strange example symlinks on Linux
<teepee> oh, that's not active for ages, the download is probably still up from like 2014 or something?
<teepee> looks like it's not on the download page anymore, so I don't know anyone using it
<peepsalot> do you think its worth reviving? i guess I already put a bit of work into converting that to cmake. its still kinda a pain though, there's a lot of additional scripts etc to set env vars on windows and to replace a bunch of paths in the CtestTest file

<teepee> good question, I'm not really sure. In theory it would be nice to be able to run this
<teepee> but if that's worth the effort, from the last years the answer is probably near no
<peepsalot> i wonder if we provided it again, if anyone would use it. and if they did, if it would give us any better info than current CI
<teepee> I assume that was the idea when it was created
<peepsalot> i mean, it would at least be the actual release version running tests as opposed to a totally different build setup
<peepsalot> i wonder if we even had any windows CI when it was created though
<teepee> not sure if there was one on Travis
<nobody666> Hello, what is the situation here?
<teepee> depends on the specific here. *here* it's snowy :)
