InPhase: yes, something like that. Although they would be nice I’m not pushing for them, just noting that they are a hypothetical case where inf-as-number would be useful.

JordanBrown[m]: is_numeric is a better label for a type check.
<InPhase>
is_nan, is_numeric, and is_finite would cover the requisite space of checks.
<InPhase>
is_number should be a synonym for is_finite with floats, but is_finite has a long tradition of being used to reduce confusion.
<InPhase>
Our current is_number has been implemented as (is_numeric(x) && ! is_nan(x))

The windows ci really is fighting, I am wondering if the vulkan headers change has left us with some in compatibility between Mesa and our build, as we are via opengl it shouldn't but who knows. Would be preferable to not be playing wack a mole
<peepsalot>
Scopeuk: i realized I made a mistake. the test breakage was actually my fault this time
<peepsalot>
the "no_GL_renderer" report filename was throwing me off, but I think that's just what happens when it can't get library info from openscad.exe. (I changed tests to use openscad.com instead of openscad.exe, but it wasn't being built/installed to the same path by default)

Scopeuk: what option do you mean, using the .com instead of .exe?
<J22>
well text .. but i am sure that is not a big problem - cortana print cube 20milimeter
<InPhase>
Pretty decent progress. It seems to bias some psychedelic colors, and they're missing a routine for crisp boundaries between components of an image, but they are certainly doing a decent job of the examples.
<InPhase>
It would be enough that someone making a game could build a lot of background elements using this approach.
<InPhase>
It would be locked into sort of one aesthetic style, but it would be a game.
<peepsalot>
yeah i could see it being great for indie game devs

I suppose you could probably train the algorythm on your concept art

Scopeuk: Probably not easily. I bet that training took them an extremely long time and fine-tuning with some heavy computation and inserted expertise.
<Junxter>
all this AI based text prompt driven content generation is very sad
<Scopeuk>
you can make similar arguments of 3d printers or cnc mills replacing artisans
<Scopeuk>
it's just diferent and I guess we chose how we use it
<teepee>
not really the same
<teepee>
that so called AI is basically just mushing together existing stuff without any attribution or control
<Scopeuk>
yeh that much is disagreeable
<Scopeuk>
its a little liek the git hub copilot stuff
<teepee>
yes, it's more obvious there
<Scopeuk>
I guess I seperate the technology from the training set in my head
<Scopeuk>
in the case of these art generators they have basically stolen an image search database

are we go with the advent calendar?

do we have a theme or are we the usual "open session"
fling has joined #openscad
<teepee>
no theme, only "ideally should work with release version", and "ideally should be CC0 licensed"
<teepee>
oh, we don't have a multi-file setup yet, we could do that if needed though
<teepee>
it's just a limitation of the html / json stuff

pretty much anything I put out falls into the "do whatever you like with it, it's free now concept"
<Scopeuk>
but release version, ideally single file I can work with

I'm moderately tempted to take the worlds dullest coaster (my work mug was too big for my old coaster when I started work from home) https://paste.debian.net/1261972/ and cut a snowflake into the surface

teepee i have like 4 or 5 i can add to scadvent if needed
<Scopeuk>
I chose to believe that he does that with top/side/botom grids with or without x's in each box

excel and google sheets have most features available in programming languages
<teepee>
indeed, I have seen factory automation by excel ;-)

true

I guess pair block scad with some sort of context aware external controller

J22: I was looking at the Magic3D thing.
<J22>
ah ok .. just didn.t see vibrant colors and fuzzy edges there .. more at dreamfusion
<InPhase>
J22: Maybe we experienced the 70s differently. ;)
<J22>
InPhase but you are not referring to the normal map or?
<InPhase>
Just, all the examples on the Magic3D page linked have some unnaturally psychedelic colors.
<InPhase>
And, they know it, which is why they highlighted the poison dart frog, peacock, and ice cream sundae, where this spectral outcome blends in better.
<J22>
but you have this slider on the images to swipe between color map and normal map .. ( just trying to understand our different perception)
