So is it generally a good idea to train CNNs over night because this model has an eta of three and half hours?
< zoq>
nishantkr18[m]: Thanks for the update, never watched 'Black Mirror', I guess I should put it on my list.

Good morning!! I'm Francisco from 🇦🇷. I'm looking for voluntaries for my project urbanforest.ai. I beg the members of this group to join. I know that mlpack is 1 of the only 2 libraries not owned by GAFAM, and I would like to keep my project as GAFAM-less as possible.
< franciscoferioli>
We are going to use computer vision to map the urban forest of the whole world
< zoq>
franciscoferioli: Hello there, that sounds like an interesting project, I clicked the url you posted but looks like it's down?
< franciscoferioli>
Sorry I forgot to mention it, I haven't bougth the domain yet, so there's still no website, but as soon as I'm payed in my job next month I will buy it hehe...
< zoq>
franciscoferioli: haha, I like the domain name; so is this like a project where I take a picture classify what kind of tree it is?
< franciscoferioli>
No, not at all. Indeed, what we want to do is to avoid doing that, since there are high chances that you could get the more than 1 photo of the same tree and then the data would be duplicated, that without mentioning it's a lot of work and money doing that job by foot.
< franciscoferioli>
Our proposal is to make use of libraries like Treepedia and aiTree, which recognize trees in street level imagery, using as sources Google StreetView or Mapillary
< franciscoferioli>
That way you make urban forest surveying automatic
< franciscoferioli>
Treepedia only locates, but aiTree, in addition, clasifies
< franciscoferioli>
The thing is, you can't relly in only one library, because Treepedia is based on StreetView, which has lots of imagery, and aiTree is based on Mapillary, which doesn't have any imagery in the Southern hemisphere
< franciscoferioli>
So each of them have their pros and cons

Hey @sakshamb189:matrix.org Are you there?
< rcurtin>
nishantkr18[m]: nice update, cool to see the mountain car succeeding :)
< rcurtin>
it seems strange to see Owen Wilson in a movie not directed by Wes Anderson :-D
< rcurtin>
I guess, only a few of his movies are Wes Anderson movies but it seems like that's most of his work that I've watched... so maybe my perspective is biased :)
< sakshamb189[m]>
himanshu_pathak: sorry I forgot about the meet. Should we have it tomorrow?
< himanshu_pathak[>
sakshamb189: No worries we can do that tomorrow 😀
< sakshamb189[m]>
or we can it now as well if you are free. Let me know
< himanshu_pathak[>
Yup agree if you want it now
< himanshu_pathak[>
I have done with implementation of multi class svm
< sakshamb189[m]>
yes we can have it now then
< himanshu_pathak[>
But I have to take
< himanshu_pathak[>
Care of some build issues
< himanshu_pathak[>
Also I am little confused about cli bindings
< franciscoferioli>
> Our proposal is to make use of libraries like Treepedia and aiTree, which recognize trees in street level imagery, using as sources Google StreetView or Mapillary
< franciscoferioli>
I guess there isn't people available here... Could you tell me where else I could ask for people who has knowledge on mlpack??
< himanshu_pathak[>
How can I give option to choose kernel in bindings

< jeffin143[m]>
Do you have any doubt regarding Mlpack ?
< rcurtin>
himanshu_pathak[: I'd suggest via a string option; take a look at, e.g., src/mlpack/methods/kernel_pca/kernel_pca_main.cpp
< sakshamb189[m]>
The bindings would be in a separate PR right, I think we can just take that as a string input and instantiate the appropriate kernelSVM
< himanshu_pathak[>
rcurtin (@freenode_rcurtin:matrix.org): Thanks I will try that
< sakshamb189[m]>
I see some of the builds are failing. Maybe we should fix those first.
< himanshu_pathak[>
<himanshu_pathak[ "rcurtin (@freenode_rcurtin:matri"> sakshamb189: OK will look into that
< himanshu_pathak[>
<sakshamb189[m] "I see some of the builds are fai"> Yup I will fix them by 10pm
< himanshu_pathak[>
Today
< himanshu_pathak[>
😅
< sakshamb189[m]>
yup no worries ;)
< sakshamb189[m]>
Have you shared your blog post for this week?
< himanshu_pathak[>
Will do today
< himanshu_pathak[>
I know I am late but want to finish pr first to share some info about that
< sakshamb189[m]>
alright sure ;)
< sakshamb189[m]>
Is there anything else we need to discuss?
< himanshu_pathak[>
Nope I will need a review on my pr by tomorrow :)
< sakshamb189[m]>
alright sure will do that. you can leave a comment and I will take a look
< himanshu_pathak[>
sakshamb189: sure
< jeffin143[m]>
> I don't have doubts, I need people who knows how to use it haha. But if there's no people available I guess I will have to work with Tensorflow or Pytorch which are the ones that my team mates already know how to use...
< jeffin143[m]>
May be the right thing would be to learn mlpack to build the project you are interested in ,
< jeffin143[m]>
In the process you may get some of us interested or if any doubts we could help
< sakshamb189[m]>
Alright if there is nothing else then we can meet next week. Have a nice week ahead!
