hanetzer: TF-A is not like either ME firmware (runs on a separate CPU) or microcode (not firmware). the closest equivalent to TF-A in x86 land is the part of you BIOS/coreboot/etc. that runs in SMM

and trusted firmware isn't any more part of the CPU than Linux is. effectively it's like an operating system for your operating system
