<rockorager> dnkl: I'm not sure if you'll see any reported issues for "kittens" used in foot, but if you do it's already fixed on master: https://github.com/kovidgoyal/kitty/pull/8058
<rockorager> (Just an FYI so you don't waste time tracking down the issue)
<dnkl> OtzmaVindicus: no, it doesn't
<dnkl> rockorager: thanks, appreciate it!

<arahael> What's the best way for me to report graphical bugs? When I type, there are glitches. If I redraw the screen, those glitches are gone.
<arahael> The glitches only apply to the recently-typed text.
<arahael> So far, they only occur in irssi.
<arahael> (Perhaps even then, only in tmux?)
<arahael> And weirdly enough, only in full screen mode, it seems?
<arahael> Hmm, wonder if it's a fractional sizing issue, would be good if that could be identified.
<arahael> Hmm, Yes, I do think it's fractional scaling.
<arahael> Setting [tweak] damage-whole-window=yes completely fixes it.
<bookworm> not sure if you care, but there's an attempt to add context escapes in systemd https://github.com/systemd/systemd/pull/35224/files
<arahael> That would be exceptionally good - if the context has changed, the title and colours could change in response, alerting the user of a significant change of permission.

<f_> "does foot support right-to-left text?" ← OtzmaVindicus: I don't think so
<f_> at least it struggles with arabic text for sure
<OtzmaVindicus> f_: so, it doesn't even link the letters?
<OtzmaVindicus> i heard rumours that arabic letters link and attach to each other.
<f_> Many arabic letters do link and attach to each other yes
<f_> (though there are exceptions)
rrogalski has joined #foot
<f_> In foot they are shown LTR and not linked at all
<OtzmaVindicus> do you write in arabic?
<OtzmaVindicus> oh, not even linked.
<f_> E.g. مرحبا
<f_> Normally it should be written right to left and some of the letters linked together
<f_> but here it is not
<f_> (btw: that word means "welcome")
<OtzmaVindicus> welcome to you too.
<f_> 😁
<OtzmaVindicus> what terminal do you use?

<jpp> foot, isn't it a terminal?
<OtzmaVindicus> yes. the best terminal i know in all time. happens to be only on wayland.
<OtzmaVindicus> there has never been a terminal in the known cosmos that surpassed foot's glory.
<f_> OtzmaVindicus: foot
<f_> I only use foot because it's good enough for my current usecases :P
<f_> Apart from lack of arabic support it works fairly well
<OtzmaVindicus> the reason multi-language support is useful, is because some terminal apps could display various languages. like those in-terminal rss readers, like newsboat/newsraft/etc.
<f_> yep yep
<f_> I'm just hoping someone will work on that at some point :) but other than that, great terminal

<arahael> OtzmaVindicus: There's a better terminal, but it's only on MacOS. (iTerm2)
<OtzmaVindicus> how better?
<arahael> OtzmaVindicus: Been looking for the best terminal to replace it for my use cases... So far foot is it!
<arahael> OtzmaVindicus: It's just super polished in every way, and in one particular area: It can ensure that everything is readable, it's the only terminal that ensures every colour on screen can have a minimum contrast.
<arahael> Which gets important for 256-colour modes.
<arahael> (That I know of)
<arahael> It also just works perfectly, I haven't seen a bug in it for years.
<OtzmaVindicus> can't we set colours as we want here too?
<arahael> OtzmaVindicus: You're going to manually assign all 256 colours?
<OtzmaVindicus> maybe. it's just once?
<OtzmaVindicus> maybe copy/paste apple's?
<arahael> Apple doesn't do this either.
<arahael> And the default there is a white background, still, for apple's terminal, I think.
<OtzmaVindicus> white bg! bad for the eyes
