Kabouik: afaik last time the quesiton about unfocused windows was asked - the answer has been that it's a job for the compositor, not a terminal emulator

Kabouik: -f can set size too. Just make sure everything is properly quoted. Or just drop the spaces from the font name. In fontconfig, spaces are optional (and on top of that, matching is case insensitive)
<dnkl>
and no, there are currently no plans to implement anything to enhance the visibility of the currently focused window (fading unfocused Windows being one way).

Thanks for the answers. Yes, I have tried using Compton for the fading of unfocused windows but I haven't found how to make that rule apply only for foot, and also I have machines where there is no hardware acceleration and Compton cannot be used, I would have loved having that feature too. But that is a corner case.
<kabouik>
Thanks for the comments on fontconfig, I didn't know it was case-insensitive and spaces were optional, that'll help me next time (I'm always unsure about these spaces in my configs).
<dnkl>
Kabouik: you can use fc-match to verify your font setting

(tip for the future)

Recently-ish, foot has started crashing when I reconnect to tmux running weechat. It looks like it's loadinga font (that does exist at that path on disk) and then crashing: https://somebits.link/u/p/d2a689692e/log.txt

zdykstra: could be bad error handling perhaps. Haven't seen that error message before
<zdykstra>
would you like me to open a bug report with these details somewhere?
<zdykstra>
it doesn't always crash, so I don't have a perfectly repeatable test case

zdykstra: would be best if you can get a proper backtrace (from a debug build). But yeah, please open a bug report
<zdykstra>
ifreund: what's the easiest way to get a debug build of foot on Void ?
<ifreund>
zdykstra: there should be a foot-dbg package no?
<zdykstra>
I must not have the debug repository enabled
<dnkl>
zdykstra: I can probably simulate that error, and see if/why it crashes

it seems to be by some text in #xbps
<ifreund>
hmm, #xbps isn't crashing my foot in weechat without termux
<ifreund>
er, weechat in foot
<zdykstra>
I have debug symbols installed, how do I use them?
