JEEB: i noticed that missed call long ago (when framesync was introduced), but when asked aobut it that time, NG answered some crap stuff that did not make any sense.
<JEEB>
yea PAFF with two coded frames totally should be able to do that
<kierank>
I doubt an encoder would do that
<JEEB>
even without slices

I wonder how much you would have to change in a progressive half-height stream to flag it as PAFF

I sent a small patch 10 days ago, no responses, but other more complicated patches are getting responses, is this normal? or will my patch get buried and I should resend it or something? first time sending so no idea
<kierank>
pretty normal
<Lynne>
kierank: could I give your irc handle to a vulkan h264 test dev who needs to make messed up streams?
<kierank>
no
<kierank>
sorry not got time for this
<JEEB>
typological: normal, if someone with enough interest hasn't poked at it. you can ping the patch by responding to it and asking for comments.
<JEEB>
feel free to link to the patchwork version of the patch here, too
<Lynne>
alright, fair enough
<kierank>
I would imagine the h264 test suite covers this case
<Lynne>
it's quite niche, though, and not something an encoder should do, I think
