<michaelni>
todays fun: try "touch -- -1" and git send-email ... -1 will mysteriously stop working :)
<JEEB>
huh, TIL that worked. I've always used something like master..HEAD or HEAD~1..HEAD :)
<JEEB>
but yes, git send-email arguments can either be git refs or files, so adding a file that also works as a ref probably leads to fun results
<michaelni>
touch 'HEAD~1..HEAD'
<michaelni>
but that at least says "File 'HEAD~1..HEAD' ...." while -1 just says "No subject line in -1? at /usr/lib/git-core/git-send-email line 674."
<JEEB>
:)
<Traneptora>
I always just run git format-patch -o outgoing/ master
<Traneptora>
followed by git send-email outgoing/foo
<JEEB>
yea, I do that esp. with stuff that requires a cover letter
<JEEB>
basically send-email then internally does the format-patch'ing if it thinks you're passing it git references

<beastd>
interesting. regarding git send-email: i actually would have assumed it works the other way around.
<beastd>
If there is a -1 it should be parsed as an option and you must go through hoops if you need to specify a file of that name
