<SiFuh> Everytime I see tarxvfz, I wonder how difficult it would be to communicate if everyone joined as tar(flags go here) with different flags

<jaeger> Anyone have wine-staging working with something that uses d3d12/directx12? Trying to get some use out of vkd3d but I'm not having much success.
<cruxbridge> <tim> I mostly just use proton-ge these days, my local wine installation does not see much use tbh
<jaeger> Via steam?
<cruxbridge> <tim> yeah
<cruxbridge> <tim> just this fork sideloaded into steam https://github.com/GloriousEggroll/proton-ge-custom/
<cruxbridge> <tim> https://github.com/GloriousEggroll/wine-ge-custom there is a standalone wine version of the patchset too
<jaeger> I've been trying vkd3d-proton but with just wine-staging
<cruxbridge> <tim> I don't have anything installed right now that would actually try to make use of it, I think I remember it working with Metro Exodus a few months back
<serpente> hello jaeger, i do
<serpente> i use my own wine-stable port
<jaeger> ok
<jaeger> how do you check/test that vkd3d and directx 12 are working?
<serpente> if you got vulkan support and vk3d3 you should just need to install dxvk via winetricks to your prefix
<serpente> like tim, with a game
<jaeger> Yeah, I think I have all the prereqs. What games are you using that are definitely dx12?
<serpente> last one i tried was Talos Principle II
<serpente> let me check for more
<jaeger> Tested with world of warcraft but it would only see d3d11 support. I need to check more games
<cruxbridge> <tim> I have doom eternal and metro exodus that should support it, total war: warhammer 1+2 and borderlands 3
<jaeger> found a list online, I'll try something that's on the list and I have in my steam library
<serpente> doom is probably the best for this test
<serpente> it has vulkan and dx12 to choose
<jaeger> ok
<cruxbridge> <tim> doom has a great performance/driver overlay you can enable, so +1 from me
<jaeger> Interesting... it works when launched via steam and proton-experimental, haven't looked at the GE fork yet (though I've used that in the past with good results)
<jaeger> So something's still missing from the wine-staging+vkd3d+dxvk setup but at least I know it CAN work
<cruxbot> [opt/3.7]: spirv-llvm-translator: 18.1.0 -> 18.1.1
<cruxbot> [contrib/3.7]: eza: 0.18.16 -> 0.18.17
<jaeger> doom eternal does launch fine but I guess it requires a bethesda account to actually play
<cruxbridge> <tim> Yeah I think it does
<jaeger> Useful data point: mangohud says "vulkan" for native vulkan stuff, I guess, and "vkd3d" for dx12 stuff, so at least I can see which is running
