May I make a suggestion for the kernel config for the install iso? I have two Intel sapphirerapids machines. The install ISO only allows one core during the install process to be used. I have the Asus WS W790-Ace and the Asrock W790 WS motherboard with the Xeon 2455x and 2495x. For either setup two options need to be enabled in the kernel in order to use all the cpu cores.

Processor type and features -> Support x2apic

Device Drivers -> IOMMU Hardware Support -> Support for Interrupt Remapping

It's not a big deal. But would be nice for the future.

I'll check it out. How does that manifest? lspcu and friends only showing a single core? I don't have any hardware like that to test.

THe IOMMU should be an easy patch. As for the x2apic, I am not aware of it.
<SiFuh>
jaeger: Also won't be a problem to enable it as well.
<SiFuh>
X86_LOCAL_APIC is actually a feature in many X86 kernels.

Shame the new kernels don't tell you the size additions if you include something these days

<jloc0> I was wondering recently if anyone had tried the kdesrc_build to build up plasma. I’ve learned a bit about building kde recently but haven’t tried a crux build. There’s an awful lot of packages though
<cruxbridge>
<jloc0> Wasn’t there a kde5 out there somewhere?
<cruxbridge>
<jloc0> I got 6 going on Slackware, maybe Ill have to kde it up on crux
<jaeger>
I'm running it on 2 systems currently. It works well enough to get things done but there's jank here and there. Some of that is plasma 6 being new jank, some of it might be the ports

<jloc0> Looks serviceable for kde5 at least, I may just play with it and see. I’d skip most of the apps just go for flatpak/discover, that the easy way out. Frameworks & plasma good enough for me
<cruxbridge>
<jloc0> Tho really I should do lxqt 2.0, that is much simpler and so so so nice to use

<tim> i run the kde 6 repo on one system and its mostly fine for me, but yeah, has some bugs still. Still, pretty neat DM if you want/need something more full featured
