SiFuh: Why won't he just call it "systemd-sudod"?
<SiFuh>
remiliascarlet: Why won't he just go away and leave Linux alone?
<remiliascarlet>
Because he has a certain agenda.
<remiliascarlet>
And of course most Linux distro's (of which all the mainstream ones) will blindly take it too.

is there any fix for a bad superblock on mounting a drive? I've tried formatting it a few times and wiping the partition table, still getting a bad superblock on mount in dmesg
<ukky>
lennox: is it physical damage to the drive, or improper unmount upon reboot?
<lennox>
im not sure actually drive was just working fine on alpine linux, went to install crux and cant mount the drive on installer
<lennox>
so im assuming the drive shouldnt be damaged, I could be wrong though.
<darfo>
you're following the handbook for install? fdisk,mkfs, before mount /dev/? /mnt?
<lennox>
yes
<lennox>
could definately be hardware issue though this is a chromebook
<lennox>
dell chromebook 11 p22t
<darfo>
sounds like a job for smartmontools' smartctl but I don't know if it is available in the installer
<darfo>
smartctl -a /dev/sd?
<jaeger>
What specific commands are you using to format and mount the partition?
<lennox>
fdisk /dev/mmcblk1
<lennox>
mkfs.ext4 /dev/mmcblk1p1
<lennox>
mkswap /dev/mmcblk1p2
<lennox>
thne mount /dev/mmcblk1p1 /mnt
<jaeger>
seems pretty normal to me... does 'lsblk' or 'parted -l' output look correct after formatting?
<lennox>
yeah everything looks correct
<lennox>
thats why im puzzled i've never ran into this issue before
<jaeger>
Hrmm... maybe try running fsck on /dev/mmcblk1p1, does it report anything odd?
<jaeger>
Hrmm... I wonder if somehow /dev/mmcblk1boot* are causing conflicts here. Are those on separate physical hardware or embedded at the start or something?
<lennox>
embedded
<lennox>
they have a soldered in card for sd storage

Not sure what to make of that, sorry :/ I would expect if mkfs.ext4 works without errors that the mount would too but I'm not familiar with chromebook hardware
<lennox>
no problem thanks for attempting :)
<lennox>
Im not too familiar with it myself
<lennox>
im going to try a rescuedisk and format from there i think see where that gets me

There's a dell chromebook 11 page on the arch wiki that mentions a legacy boot mode, does yours have something like that?
