<r0ni> been considering moving my server to crux, may be a fun endeavour
<SiFuh> When I worked for the university in early 2000 I had a few Linux servers I maintained. But for personal servers they had always been a BSD.
<SiFuh> CRUX should be good for a server though.
<SiFuh> I wonder what the uptime on my CRUX repo box is
<r0ni> generally i've used slackware and freebsd, i had to ditch freebsd cuz it got to be a pain to maintain. so now using debian in it's place
<SiFuh> Mine was FreeBSD and then I switched to OpenBSD
<r0ni> and slackware takes too much trimming to use on a server
<SiFuh> Currently the OpenBSD server is 148 days
<r0ni> i'm considering a custom slack or crux and moving it all under one better hardware machine
<r0ni> leaning toward slack right now, cuz I really know it inside and out, but i think i'm proficient in crux enough to do the same
<r0ni> in the end tho, i already know what pkgs i need, it's just setup. i could probably make a hybrid SLUX or something even lol
<SiFuh> CRUXware
<r0ni> i just want native repo handling for both in one install
<r0ni> or maybe the ability to use pkgs from either system, taht would be cool
<SiFuh> Kevin McCarthy removed as US House Speaker HAHAHA that guy was a twat
<r0ni> something something provision politics
<SiFuh> r0ni: if you know what you need and CRUX has them and as long as you don't push for bleeding edge, as a server it should be perfect.
<r0ni> ya i'm tossed up between total custom oddity or stable boring... i figure i'll play with a few custom vms and see what makes me happy
<SiFuh> Servers should be stable boring
<r0ni> stable yes, but dont have to be boring ;)
<r0ni> just realized i need to remove a pkg from my repo after i updated it twice just now, as someone added xdg-user-dirs to contrib
<r0ni> 3rd times the charm! ;)
<r0ni> i need to re-work the xfce4 meta-port soon... i keep putting it off cuz so many ideas in this head, i need a sedative
<SiFuh> It is why I drink beer. It slows my mind down
<r0ni> my work/sleep schedule makes it almost impossible to have a beer or ten
<r0ni> this is why i used to drink tho lol
<SiFuh> I use to have a breathalyzer so I could see how much I can the night before.
<r0ni> hahaha epic
<SiFuh> When I went to Kota Bharu (Heavy Muslim area) there was no alcohol at all. Couldn't sleep most nights and was always busy as. Brain just keeps going.
<SiFuh> I will be going to Kuala Lumpur again soon, and that means no alcohol for breakfast or lunch. So it is going to be hectic
<r0ni> travel bottles!
<SiFuh> No, I have a coca cola sleeve that slides over the beer can. But I will be going for business.
<r0ni> oh ya have to be in a preentable mood then, no sloppy times
<SiFuh> Not sloppy, just need to be 100% alert. Be at my super sharpest which is what I am technically hired for.

<SiFuh> lavaball: no dude, just working on a broth/stock so no sleep for around 24 hours :-)
<SiFuh> I can sleep tonight though. The broth which will become stock is great.
<SiFuh> They said it is lamb, but I know it is goat
<SiFuh> I asked them to cut the bones. They said can't they are too tough. So I showed them a meat cleaver and said use one of these. Two massive power brute force cuts and nothing happened. Damn! Got out the old hack saw instead. :-P
<lavaball> okay. i'll allow it.
<SiFuh> Thanks boss
<lavaball> nobody knows the reference.
<SiFuh> lavaball: Common here. I came out the jungle in the 4WD and there was a police checkpoint. Little Tamil/Malay police officer looking up at me. I said "YES BOSS!". Hehehe
<SiFuh> He asked where I came from and where I am going. I was thinking of my mother and death but... I knew he wasn't asking that. After I replied he said to me that I can go. Never checked anything and back into the jungle.
<SiFuh> But here "Boss" is a common term used by sellers to customers and customers to sellers
<SiFuh> lavaball: Malaysian thing
