pitillo: For what it's worth, I used to have PKGMK_SOURCE_MIRRORS=(https://crux.ninja/distfiles) in my pkgmk.conf, but now it's commented out. I'm not sure how much overlap there is between x86_64 and arm sources, though.

farkuhar: mine was too. Mostly due to failed archives
<farkuhar>
SiFuh: is there a pattern in the ports that trigger 404 not found errors when PKGMK_SOURCE_MIRRORS is set? e.g., only those ports that use the renames feature? I think download_file() might be making incorrect assumptions about the filename to expect on a mirror host.
<SiFuh>
Not failed as in 404. Failed as in broken

sajcho, nice speed
stoffepojken has quit [Ping timeout: 258 seconds]
<ukky>
My runit has similar speed. I would say it takes about 5 seconds from start of /sbin/init to get to login prompt, instead of ~50 seconds with sysvinit.
<SiFuh>
Nice
<ukky>
Most code I took from Void Linux. Some parts from KISS Linux.
<SiFuh>
CRUX is based on the concept of BSD and Void was written and crated by a BSD guy
<ukky>
Yes, I have seen references that creator of Void is BSD guy.

<lavaball>
the spanish guy who got kicked out of his own distro?
<lavaball>
or are we talking the troon?
<SiFuh>
He wasn't booted, he vanished and for a while most of the URL's couldn't be accessed. So after much skill they managed to move everything to a new site.
<pitillo>
farkuhar: thank you so much, I'll make some tests here. Sources should be the same between architectures, so let's see if it works for me or if there is something borked here
<pitillo>
first try on the chromebook is working like a charm... I put the URL between quotes " and it wasn't working as expected. Thank you very much again!
<lavaball>
i find the whole distro suspicious. though it's one of the only ones using musl and no systemd. even though they were the first to try it apparently.
<ukky>
I don't know how well package manager (xbps) is written in Void, but database of packages is stored in quite complex format (uses XML).
<SiFuh>
I use to create ports back in the day that use xbps. You have have to compile against a source tree. So the ports are quite stable and clean

sajcho: "my hands are shaking" I hope they weren't shaking in too sensitive places.

SiFuh: From what I understood is that Juan RP got canceled out of the team by woke infiltraters, and even lashed out on them on Twitter before he deleted his account and disappeared off the internet.
<remiliascarlet>
I was thinking of making my own distro for a while, but I think maintaining an entire distro on top of my already heavily occupied schedule that keeps piling up as time goes by is going to be too much of a hassle.
