<lavaball> what is it with make menuconfig always adding weird things to my .configs? added force feedback and ext4_fs_sec ... among other things. i copy the one from the old kernel, which doesn't have those enabled, i checked, and then do make menuconfig and then i have to walk through the hallways like a ghost buster.
<remiliascarlet> Perhaps another module depends on it? Not sure though.
<remiliascarlet> Also, packaging for Alpine is so much more frustrating than CRUX.
<lavaball> don't make the man/man/fbi joke!
<lavaball> did that, 2 minutes later i was banned.
<remiliascarlet> Because in Alpine, I need to include a gazillion different "-dev" packages into makedepends.
<remiliascarlet> No idea what you mean.
<lavaball> if you talk to a woman on the net it's a man, and if it's a child it's the fbi.
<lavaball> they translated that to me saying that women have no place in tech.
<SiFuh> No if it doesn't appear in the pervious kernel config then it will aut configure what is NEW to the default.
<remiliascarlet> Ah, you mean the good old rules of the internet!"
<SiFuh> auto
<lavaball> well, i guess the alpinies didn't read the first edition rule book.
<lavaball> anyway, just be careful.
<remiliascarlet> Speaking of the FBI: https://youtube.owacon.moe/watch?v=x2t5loX9pOI
<lavaball> i don't get it. is this this dragonball thing?
<SiFuh> remiliascarlet: Is that George Castanza on steroids?
<lavaball> never actually seen it.
<lavaball> costanza!
<remiliascarlet> The other character is Senator Armstrong.
<lavaball> who?
<SiFuh> George Costanza*
<remiliascarlet> Where the whole "NANOMACHINES, SON!" meme comes from.
<lavaball> also why is it purple around the video?
<remiliascarlet> From Metal Gear Solid Revengers.
<lavaball> yeah, i think now i understand why i get banned everywhere all the time. i just don't know what you peopel are talking about.
<lavaball> oh, that's playstation, right?
<remiliascarlet> Yes.
<lavaball> well, i don't smoke weed.
<remiliascarlet> Don't worry, you're not the only one getting banned from everywhere.
<lavaball> i don't mind. it's great content.
<remiliascarlet> SiFuh: Oh, that guy looks pretty similar indeed.
<lavaball> though i'm a a little sad since in alpine apparently the ladies made a home for themselves.
<lavaball> and well, i'm a simple dick owner.
<lavaball> i always go where the ladies are.
<remiliascarlet> Compiling the same program on CRUX (Core 2 Duo) and Alpine (Cortex A-53) at the same time, and CRUX compiles way faster it seems.
<remiliascarlet> Not sure, should I have said "Allwinner A64" instead of "Cortex A-53" though?
<remiliascarlet> lavaball: There are no ladies on the internet, just dudes pretending to be ladies.
<lavaball> i know, but i'm very gullible.
<lavaball> in fact i'm so blue eyed i'd make hitler gay.
<SiFuh> Propaganda
<remiliascarlet> The only blue eyed people over here all tend to be foreigners. I wonder why.
<lavaball> you in asia or something?
<remiliascarlet> Yes.
<lavaball> i thought about it, but i don't find you guys all that pretty, even though most people i know have yellow fever.
<SiFuh> Heh
<remiliascarlet> Nothing to worry about, we don't find ourselves pretty neither.
<lavaball> well, that's a universal problem.
<remiliascarlet> Men don't want to date because of feminism, and women prefer white guys.
<lavaball> because we have been burned by what's going on here and know how to appreciate someone playing by the old rule book.
<lavaball> but then, i wouldn't really know how asian girls are. it's just what i read.
<SiFuh> remiliascarlet: That is more of a Japanese thing
<SiFuh> In other parts of Asia, feminism isn't that common
<lavaball> japaan is very clean and seems to have great politics regarding immigration. can support!
<remiliascarlet> lavaball: In general, women over here aren't really about beauty, they're more about cuteness.
<lavaball> my intel checks out then.
<lavaball> i wish i had more friends oversees.
<lavaball> though you guys have to deal with the ccp. i even heard the 9 dash line got updaetd to 12? or 13 even?
<SiFuh> remiliascarlet: In Thailand we have that. 35 year's old, bed full of stuff bears and a helly kitty hand bag
<SiFuh> hello*
<lavaball> i thought you were australia.
<lavaball> well, don't insult the king!
<SiFuh> Yes and live in Malaysia now
<remiliascarlet> "great politics" So great, we can barely even hold on to the same prime minister for an entire year in many cases. "regarding immigration" Well, this has been slowly being loosened up over the past decade, and it's exactly the government's own fault, like favoring women over men, favoring elderly over anything younger, constantly raising taxes so you're basically being punished for having kids, and
<remiliascarlet> so on. And then they wonder why nobody wants to make children.
<lavaball> wow. thank you for that insight.
<lavaball> i honestly didn't know.
<SiFuh> remiliascarlet: I heard an interesting question the other day about Japan. "There are three countries that hate the Japanese. Most people can only guess the first two"
<cruxbot> [contrib.git/3.7]: gitea: 1.20.4 -> 1.20.5
<remiliascarlet> China and Korea for sure. The third one would be either North Korea or Russia.
<SiFuh> The third is Japan
<lavaball> i can only guess one. china. they still aren't over the nanking thing. though if you look at the numbers. if mao hadn't been you could have visited like once every year and still not as many wuold have died.
<remiliascarlet> Well, the hatred among Chinese, Koreans, and Japanese exists more among the boomers, younger people don't hold these grudges anymore.
<SiFuh> Yeah
<lavaball> that seems to be the sickness of our time though. the young hate their own country.
<remiliascarlet> Nowadays, we even visit each other's countries, eat each other's food, consume each other's entertainment, and so on.
<lavaball> well, everybody consumes your entertainment.
<remiliascarlet> Except for North Korea.
<SiFuh> I was living in China and wearing a millitary cap and during winter, I'd shove a handkerchief under my hat (Similar to legionaires hats from Japan). Many people in China would rip it off my head or tell me not to dress like it. Reminded them of the war with Japan
<lavaball> like manga outsells comics 9/1 in the states from what i hear.
<remiliascarlet> Correction: Except for North
<SiFuh> Japan culture is huge in Thailand and Malaysia
<remiliascarlet> *Correction: Except for North Korea, unless you're Kim Jong Un.
<lavaball> what is this north korea up to anyway these days?
<lavaball> i heaven't heard anything in a while.
<remiliascarlet> I guess this: https://youtube.owacon.moe/watch?v=6-V53wlD6qE
<SiFuh> Lots of cool stuff. He is in Russia now. Met with Putin the other day
<lavaball> i prefer this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lwoSFQb5HVk
<lavaball> so this owacon is the japanese youtube? or how does this work?
<remiliascarlet> It's an Invidious instance, a privacy respecting alternative UI for YouTube.
<lavaball> yt-dlp.
<remiliascarlet> The reason why I pick this instance is because it's the only Asian instance that doesn't run on hostile infrastructure (like Cloudflare).
<lavaball> youtube only goes to 2.0x speed.
<lavaball> i need at least 2.66
<lavaball> wow
<lavaball> hostile infrastructure!
<lavaball> those are the terms!
<lavaball> i'm so gonna use that from now on to make people think i know shit too!
<remiliascarlet> To get you up to speed: http://crimeflare.eu.org/
<lavaball> so it's hostile because it's down?
<remiliascarlet> Click on any language you're the most comfortable with on the right from that meme.
<lavaball> well, at least the lefties are on board: https://0xacab.org/dCF/deCloudflare/-/raw/master/image/twe_crc32ae80d4d3.jpg
<remiliascarlet> They're on board with almost everything.
<lavaball> you must know different lefties then.
<remiliascarlet> Pretty unfortunate that the lefties are generally more tech savvy than the righties, all while the majority of righties keep saying how "degenerate", "demonic", or "pedophile" everything is, it's really the right wing version of saying how everything is "racist", "transphobic", or "climate change denial".
<lavaball> well, nobdoy said that they are any different.
<lavaball> they are just as crazy. they just run in the opposite direciton.
<lavaball> and that's how all this works. we go too far left, now we are starting to go to the right ... too far right ... and then back left ... too far left. you know, like trying to steady the boat which will never work.
<remiliascarlet> Everyone politically motivated is crazy, both the left and the right. I've been pushed out by both sides.
<lavaball> you don't have to tell me.
<lavaball> i feel like i found an ally.
<lavaball> yet, you are still in alpine. so i guess i'm still ahead.
<remiliascarlet> It's actually postmarketOS on a PinePhone, I just say "Alpine" because it's shorter.
<remiliascarlet> And postmarketOS is a fork of Alpine anyway.
<lavaball> oh.
<lavaball> i see.
<remiliascarlet> I actually use quite a wide variety of distro's and BSDs. CRUX, PostmarketOS, Artix, Gentoo, FreeBSD, OpenBSD, all the cool stuff.
<lavaball> i'll allow it.
<remiliascarlet> PostmarketOS is the only distro for PinePhone that's both not a systemd/Linux OS, and not dead.
<remiliascarlet> Well, Glodroid too, but I could as well have bought a regular Android phone if I needed to use Android.
<lavaball> arch, void, alpine, gentoo, openbsd.
<lavaball> it took out my command line...
<lavaball> seriously?
<lavaball> anwyay, my new found japanes companion, i would like the watch the narutos, and i mean all of them. though in order, in case you get the reference. how would i go about it? jap with subtitles. unless you wantto give me language lessons of course.
<SiFuh> I always like Dr Black Jack and GTO
<lavaball> what's gto?
<lavaball> also alsa device list: no sound card found. once inside: soudn works fine.
<SiFuh> GTo = Great Teacher Onizuka
<lavaball> never heard of it.
<lavaball> black jack is also unknown to me.
<ukky> lavaball: if you define CONFIG_SND as module, instead of 'y', 'ALSA device list: No soundcards found' will not appear in dmesg
<lavaball> no modules.
<lavaball> but good to know. thanks.
<lavaball> i need one of those meme faces. then i write below: when all your errors come from your uses flags in userland and not the kernel options.
<lavaball> so i just found out obs needs pulseaudio as well as pipewire ... and l4v for camera would be nice. and of course i don't figure this out all at once, no. i first compile with pulse, now i compile with v4l. you gotta get through the day somehow.
