darfo solved the qt6-webengine build error by regressing re2 to its 2023-03-01 version. But re2 is not needed by anything other than qt6-webengine, so why was its version bumped (seemingly without testing the effect on dependent ports)?
<farkuhar>
similarly, I could have bumped the libplacebo version a few days ago, but then mpv would fail to compile (the new gamut-mapping API can only be accommodated by cherry-picking a bunch of commits from the mpv github site). Hopefully the tagging of a new libplacebo version will soon trigger a corresponding tag for mpv.

I never expected to experience such joy switching from systemd to sysvinit (on Debian 11)

Devuan ;-)
<SiFuh>
Devuan is a fork of the Debian Linux distribution that uses sysvinit, runit or OpenRC instead of systemd.
<ukky>
Never had to use Debian before, but it seems the only one capable to do the switch
<ukky>
Are you saying Debian 12 cannot do the switch?
<SiFuh>
Devuan is Debian

r0ni: I was able to install the xfce4 ports and get a desktop started... some minor issues such as missing deps (from deprecated ports in most cases but one legitimate missing) and when starting the desktop the power manager plugin crashes
