<ivandi> farkuhar: I start mc in alacritty. IIRC the key is the DE variable that tells mc to fork. I also have xdg-open installed.
_moth_ has quit [Ping timeout: 248 seconds]
<SiFuh_> alias mc='DE=gnome mc -x'
<SiFuh_> Well it doesn't work here, but then again I don't use a DE
<farkuhar> SiFuh: try replacing /usr/lib/mc/ext.d/video.sh with this one: http://sprunge.us/UlFs9g
groovy2shoes has quit [Remote host closed the connection]

<SiFuh_> I don't use /usr/lib/mc/ext.d/video.sh
<SiFuh_> I use .config/mc/mc.ext
<SiFuh_> regex/i/\.(3gp|m4v|avi|flv|mkv|mp4|mpe?g|mov|swf|vob|wmv|trec|webm)$
<SiFuh_> Open=mpv %f
<SiFuh_> with an & after
<SiFuh_> farkuhar: https://dpaste.com/2AVY49MFZ.txt <--
<SiFuh_> farkuhar: I think you may have solved my puzzle
<SiFuh_> I changed the line 'Open=mpv --really-quiet %f > /dev/null 2>&1 &' to 'Open=nohup mpv --really-quiet %f > /dev/null 2>&1 &'
<SiFuh_> Thanks! farkuhar adding nohup in front of the command was the solution. I saw it in that script you mosted. Thanks ivandi as well.
<SiFuh_> mosted/posted
<farkuhar> SiFuh: glad to hear that we solved this puzzle at last!
<SiFuh_> Yeah, I put it in front of gimp, inkscape, feh, xpdf, libreoffice as well. But ot in front of mpv .pls because that plays in a terminal
<SiFuh_> farkuhar: https://dpaste.com/7T72F8KD7.txt here is my full mc.ext script. The archive section allows me to look inside but you need a rather large TMP directory for huge archives
<farkuhar> SiFuh: thanks! The ability to look inside archives was always one of my favorite built-in features of mc. Nowadays my backups are mostly uncompressed, so I never bothered to see if this feature is implemented in nnn (my current choice of file manager).
<SiFuh_> farkuhar: yeah, I use to archive all backups, these days I don't bother.
<cruxbot> [opt.git/3.6]: thunderbird-bin: updated to version 91.9.0
<SiFuh_> farkuhar: messed around with the video.sh script and the other scripts that mc provides. Found I had to specify the path to the script directly because of a non-standard location. It launched the video player but left the terminal blacked out until the video was closed since it ran it over the foreground.
<SiFuh_> Anyway, nothing to worry about, I prefer the mc.ext file as it is much more compact and simplified
<SiFuh_> For a system where you use pretty much the same programs accross machines, I don't really see the point of the script, since the scripts are designed to be more universally robost for systems with different programs installed
<farkuhar> SiFuh: I agree that the mc-provided scripts take an unnecessarily convoluted route to spawn an external program. It's probably due to mc having such a long pedigree compared to xdg-mime, so they didn't want to start from scratch once xdg-open made the original mc.ext basically obselete.
<SiFuh_> Hah, funny because mc.ext is pretty easy though. Point everything to an Include=<some name> and then at the bottom of the file and then have an include/<some name> with the command :-)
<SiFuh_> But yeah, the script idea wasn't a bad thought.
<SiFuh_> farkuhar: nnn is pretty quick, but I never could get use to it.

<SiFuh_> Everytime I pitch the yeast and I know how much CO2 my yeast will create, I am so proud.
<stenur> Germany just yesterday had its Earth-Day. The rest of the year we will eat you and the rest of the future of our planet.
<stenur> And mind you: even though that terrible USA had its earth day already two months ago, they are i think 330.000.000 people, not 80.000.000.
DaViruz has quit [Ping timeout: 260 seconds]
<stenur> Yeah Australians are dirty frogs.
<leah2> they burn even more coal than us germans :p
<stenur> Thanks leah2. I knew Katar and Luxemburg (all the enlightened Autobahns likely)
<stenur> I did not know that all the Scandinavian countries are even worse than we are. Finland! Wow.
<SiFuh_> Makes no sense
<stenur> Jamaica Mann!
DaViruz has joined #crux
<SiFuh_> This is bullshit
<stenur> The third of September, the day i always remember; but you're a bit off Thailand.
<SiFuh_> How is Uzbekistan even on that list?
<SiFuh_> And USA with their open border policies, allowing millions of illegal immigrants is near Australia?
<stenur> That is the door of hell which they want to shutdown; isn't it there?
<stenur> aah the latinos, only their poooo counts, that is all they have. No`
<stenur> In Germany this day is known for some decades really. Not that it matters.
<SiFuh_> Probably pulled out of Yuval Noah Harari arse and manipulated
<stenur> that i had to look up.
<stenur> But if you refer to the israeli scientist.
<stenur> Drop him.
<stenur> Look for Club of Rome.
<SiFuh_> Dude should be strung on a post
<stenur> He is a smart faker who wants to be in the media (i presume)
<SiFuh_> No
<SiFuh_> He is a fscking idiot who wants to be someone
<SiFuh_> Same as that clown Einstein
<SiFuh_> Thomas Edison
<stenur> And especially "On the 50th anniversary of The Limits to Growth a new report to the Club of Rome"
<SiFuh_> Elon Musk
<stenur> Oh my god. No.
<SiFuh_> Steve Jobs, Bill Gates
<stenur> And Edison, didn't he grill Elephants to have his way? And didn't get it nonetheless. Ashole.
<SiFuh_> They are all fake, just corporate thieves
<SiFuh_> But the media says theya re genius' because they made money
<SiFuh_> Yeah the war of AC vs DC. My father read to me a book in 1988 about that.
<stenur> Poor elephants! I saw film documents. Smoldering feet. Ah Humans, phew.
<SiFuh_> I was fortunate or atleast felt fortunate because of the books my father would read to me.
<SiFuh_> Hated Edison after hearing that, then hated him more when I studied further
<stenur> Yeah look at me mine only wanted Jesus, and got him.
<stenur> Well actually i love listening to Otto Briesemeister singing the Loge part of Richard Wagner. That is from 1904. :)
<SiFuh_> Here, try this. I didn't fail not being able to put food in my mouth. I just found 1,000 ways that you can't put food in your mouth.
<SiFuh_> 1000 ways? What a retard
<SiFuh_> “I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.” -Thomas Edison
<SiFuh_> Sounds like failure to me
<stenur> The mystery is always standing up again.
<SiFuh_> Bet he repeated it 10,000 times
<stenur> This is why i adore Einstein even without understanding. He thought it. It was maybe trial and error, but only in the mind.
<stenur> I mean adore hmhm. Respect deeply.
<SiFuh_> Then probably called Tesla and said I had tried 10k times and it doesn't work and Tesla says, I am not Einstein, I am Tesla, why not try something different 'click'
<SiFuh_> Almost all of Einsteins work was gibberish
<SiFuh_> He even admitted it
<stenur> I do not know SiFuh
<SiFuh_> Plagiarism is all he was good at
<stenur> Ach we had a terrible discussion over years regarding dissertations in Germany. Now everything is fake. Whereas finding mind maps through thousands of fairy lights here and there is an achievement by itself.
<SiFuh_> I saw something the other day actually about putting a face to science
<SiFuh_> They are not real scientists but they bind it to them
<stenur> Even though it is so clear: if right wing fakes they are dirty liars, if left wing fakes they just take a lot of spots and form a Sun. That easy it could be!
<SiFuh_> The hope was Elon Musk to replace the predecessors such as Einstein and Bill Nye
<cruxbot> [contrib.git/3.6]: doxygen: 1.9.4
<SiFuh_> We have entered the days where we will not be able to distinguish the lies from the truth.
<stenur> it is the most terrible public discurse mess i have ever encountered
<SiFuh_> It will get much worse
<stenur> ..unless they mess it up entires and Mad Max becomes reality
<SiFuh_> I am ready for that to be truthful
<groovy2shoes> two men enter, one man leaves
<SiFuh_> Unless it is the US and they are gay
<SiFuh_> Hahaha
<SiFuh_> Should be two men enter, and no soul leaves
<SiFuh_> I read a lot of US news and the top story I see is that the supreme court will nullify the original 1970 something case about Roe vs Wade and now people are rioting? What for? They have made abortion illegal, they are just saying it is not a federal choice but a states choice.
<SiFuh_> They have NOT made abortion illegal*
<SiFuh_> stenur: couldn't find the song you were talking about

<stenur> SiFUh_: which song? Ah, Otto Briesemeister!! Wonderful!!
<stenur> You have to search "Heldentenöre"
<stenur> Immer ist Undank Loges Lohn (Das Rheingold)
<stenur> That is the song
<stenur> and listen to all 4x2hours or what. In German, of course.
<stenur> Oh it was wonderful.
<stenur> Janowski says on Briesemeister something like "of course today this is unacceptable he had to leave the stage immediately" or something.
<stenur> HAHA!
<stenur> That was real Germany still. Wonderful!
<stenur> Unfortunately i have no idea how i could download this thing.
