mattb0ne: You got it...! Faulty pins. I know!
<set_>
I think I goofed w/ a GPIO once or twice.
<set_>
Needless to say, that specific GPIO no longer does its job.

Does the Motor Cape work still?
<set_>
I see things for Servo Cape and the Relay Cape.
<set_>
Are people still trying w/ the Motor Cape?
<set_>
and also...
<set_>
Would I need to put resistors, for instance here, on the GPIO/PWM lines of the BBB if I using the L293D driver?
<set_>
There seems to be some instance now where specific technologies w/in the L293 have it so I do not need the resistors but...
<set_>
The main reason I ask is this...
<set_>
I started an issue w/ docs.beagleboard.org over the GPIO/PWM lines from the BBB (output) to the L293D which drives the motor(s).
<set_>
Anyway, I keep having to backtrack and I wanted other opinions. It just seems safer for the board if the L293D would to act up.
<set_>
Another question here, when a circuit diagram states 3v input, should I assume (w/out further data on the docs) it to be a GPIO pin from the BBB?
<set_>
for instance, the L293D has interior diodes w/ four half, H-Bridges.
<set_>
and some input pins. 5v, 4.5v to 36v, and then the infamous 3v.
<set_>
The 5v is its operating voltage/current while the 4.5 to 36v is the min/max input for the current to port to the motor.
<set_>
And..
<set_>
3v in this case would be a GPIO from the BBB, right. And...not 3.3v input current. It needs a switching mechanism, i.e. on/off.
<set_>
It just does not say so. It only refers to the 3v as 3v in the datasheet.
<set_>
and dang it, my silly self over here forgot to bring the floaters to ground.
<set_>
I am only using one motor so far.
<set_>

Dance three makes it roll over but it never got back up! https://youtu.be/tvYBfX9kdC4 will give a good morning laugh!

Before that song grows to maturity, BBL!
