<zmatt> wtf
<set_> I am mad.
<set_> So mad I could sit and listen for replies!
<set_> Ha.

<static_rocket> questions about wireless ap. been down that road on other products. it's frustrating how hard it is to find a good wireless interface that actually properly supports ap. haven't even attempted with the beagle devices yet. intel still can't even figure out how to do it reasonably and they wrote their own wireless daemon as a replacement for networkmanager.
<static_rocket> it's reasonable they are frustrated. people tend to overlook that feature
<static_rocket> well, it was supposed to be a replacement for wpa_supplicant but then it snowballed and started including advanced interface management and bluetooth control so now it basically is a replacement for networkmanager

<zmatt> static_rocket: it doesn't replace wpa_supplicant
<zmatt> unless you're confusing connman and iwd
<zmatt> oh wait you're talking about iwd not connman... are you saying it's also a network manager? I wasn't aware of that
<zmatt> oh yeah it does actually support (optional and very rudimentary) network management...
<zmatt> not sure when you'd use that... I guess it could be handy if you're using iwd with systemd-networkd and for some weird reason you have a requirement to use custom network settings for some wifi networks

<static_rocket> feature creep made the two hauntingly similar. connman is still their preferred connection manager though
<zmatt> at a quick glance I didn't see anything about iwd supporting any sort of management of non-wifi interfaces
<zmatt> nor would I expect it to

<static_rocket> huh. they may have actually dropped the bluetooth support in iwctl. good on em

<static_rocket> i only briefly played with it in college. unfortunately it only supported EAP-PEAP as well as nm did at the time so it didn't last long.

<set_> Parduz: There are some overlay issues that can be raised on git.beagleboard.org .
<set_> You would just need to find the correct repo.
otisolsen70 has quit [Quit: Leaving]
<set_> The repo. is usually Beagleboard-DeviceTrees.
<set_> Or... BeagleBone-DeviceTrees. I forget which one. Let me check.
