<zmatt> rcn-ee: might be clearer if the udev rules file names reflect that one is for gpio sysfs and the other for gpio chardev... "80-gpio-noroot.rules" vs "85-gpio-noroot.rules" is not exactly descriptive ;)
<Guest69> Hello everyone, I am having problems with the Beaglebone Black Industral:
<Guest69> I could swipe a new system with an SD card, but I couldn't find the SD card while the system was running
<Guest69> When I type fdisk-l, only a 4GB EMMC storage space is displayed. Why?Did I do something wrong?
<Guest69> </3
<zmatt> does /dev/mmcblk0 not exist?
<Guest69> yes, only a mmcblk1,I searched the Internet for the answer and someone mentioned that the SD card would automatically change to mmcblk0, but I couldn't find mmcblk0 at all
<zmatt> if you're using kernel 4.9 or later, eMMC is always /dev/mmcblk1, SD card is always /dev/mmcblk0
<zmatt> (on older kernels the numbering can be non-deterministic)
<zmatt> does /sys/class/mmc_host/mmc0 exist?
<Guest69> No.There's only one mmcblk1
<zmatt> you mean mmc1 ?
<zmatt> oh you were responding to what I said before
<Guest69> Yes, when I typed fdisk-l, I only saw this display:
<Guest69> Disk /dev/mmcblk1:3.6GB, 3867148288 bytes, 7553024 sectors
<zmatt> yes you've said that repeatedly. I asked:
<zmatt> 04:26 <@zmatt> does /sys/class/mmc_host/mmc0 exist?
<zmatt> I'm assuming you're talking about a custom system on eMMC ?
<Guest69> Yes, I am new to this. please tell me What command should I use to check if mmc0 exists?
<zmatt> ehh, for example ls /sys/class/mmc_host/mmc0
<zmatt> if it doesn't exist, it'll say it doesn't exist (otherwise it'll show its contents0
<zmatt> so ehm, if you're so new to linux that you don't know how to look around in the filesystem, what's the background story here? what are you trying to do?
<zmatt> since complete new users are generally not mucking around with fdisk on some system running on a BBB Industrial
<Guest69> I accidentally got a few pieces and wanted to see what it could do. I did this step according to the tutorial. Anyway, thanks for your help. Can you tell me what I should do if I have MMC0?
<zmatt> what tutorial?
<zmatt> if you have a random BBB with a weird system on eMMC that you don't care about, I suggest starting by reflashing it to the latest official image
<zmatt> (download the "AM3358 Debian 10.3 2020-04-06 4GB eMMC IoT Flasher" from the "Flasher Debian images" section of https://beagleboard.org/latest-images, flash it to an sd card using Balena Etcher (etcher.io) and boot the beaglebone from it, it will automatically proceed to wipe and reflash eMMC and will power off when done)
<Guest69> Thank you, I will try what you said, if there are still problems, I will come back again
<Guest69> (It is a tutorial written by our native fans, I don't think you will be interested in it)

<jduchniewicz> does anyone also have to periodically remove the ssh keys for their beagle? I have to run ssh-keygen -R 192.168.7.2 and then ssh into it each time I restart my host. Otherwise ssh'ing just hangs forever

<set_> Hello, does this file, 60-omap-tty.rules, work still and if so...how can I configure the UART channels on my BBBW?
<set_> I tried w/ source, I tried w/ config-pin, and I tried w/ udev. What other options are there right now?
<set_> I changed modes in udev. Do I need to do anything outside of change the mode, i.e. restart the udev.d config file or initd?

<set_> There was a fellow on the forums. He wanted to figure out why the UART channel was not showing output.
<set_> I am in that boat too.

<zmatt> jduchniewicz: uhh no, wtf?
<zmatt> jduchniewicz: I don't see how a known_hosts entry could possibly cause ssh to hang... the known_hosts check should either fail or succeed
<zmatt> jduchniewicz: next time it happens try passing the -v option to ssh to see if you can identify what it's hanging on
<zmatt> set_: there's absolutely nothing for you to do with udev
<zmatt> set_: configure the pins with config-pin, then use the serial port like you would use a serial port on any other linux system (e.g. using some library to configure the serial port)
<zmatt> jduchniewicz: and "each time I restart my host" makes especially little sense
