<arm_begginer> hello
<arm_begginer> i have just started learing arm, and written a hello_earth program, but i am unable to write strings that are even a 1 byte longer than 13 bytes, and i run into a bus error, however when i move the .data section above .text section, atleast something is printed, but its garbage,
<arm_begginer> i am unable to resolve what kind of documentation to even look into since arm has so many of them, i hope someone could help me on this,
<arm_begginer> thank you

<a3f> arm_begginer, try reproducing with the same toolchain that was used to build the rest of your userspace. If you still have problems, you'll likely want to report it to your distro vendor
<a3f> Sounds a bit like you are using a toolchain that is compiling for a different target than what your are really running on
<arm_begginer> it turned out to ba an alignment issue, i mistakenly posted the question here i did not pay attention too much on the linux header of this channel as i am on macos sequioa,
<arm_begginer> i have been assembling from "as", apple-clang and its not aligned automatically which is wierd according to some other more experienced people i asked from
<arm_begginer> apparently the binary is assemebled and linked succesfully in macos even if everything is misaligned

<bjdooks> do not make -j modules in a modern kernel if you value your memory, swap and other processes
<robmur01> -j without an argument definitely wins a "Why do we even have this!?" in general...

<bjdooks> yeah, i think i got 350 aarch64-gnu-linux processes before oOM
<geertu> bjdooks: Even with -j 12, my system feels more sluggish lately than before

<ajb-linaro> ninja seems to do a better job of parallising builds without overwhelming the host - for plain ole make I always have -j(nproc+1)
<ajb-linaro> of course if I forget I have another build running....
<bjdooks> yeah, i mistyped the nproc bit and therefore it ended up being pretty much unbounded#
