yes it does i have loaded it overlays=mmc2 spi0 spi1 spi2 spi-add-cs1 spi-spidev uart2 uart3 uart4 uart5 uart6 uart7

Well the soc might not be able to boot directly from emmc. so this is a hw limitation. Only way to work around this is to keep the sd in during boot-up at least. On linux-sunxi I find NAND-related stuff only and this isn't a thing anymore.

As said nand isn't a thing anymore. nand support was written for android-ish stone-age 3.x kernels which we dropped support for years ago. nand support never made it into mainline.

Yes. However you could use the majority of the microsd for other things since you only need the boot loader on it to be present.
