hmmm the same happens with PACKAGES, but when I check RDEPENDS with `bitbake procps -e` than RDEPENDS for procps-sysctl are not containing my additional package which is procps-sysctl-conf
<dvergatal>
because what i want to achive is to move sysctl.conf from procps-sysctl and move it to procps-sysctl-conf
<dvergatal>
and when i do it than somehow RDEPENDS during package write ipk contains this dependency despite the fact that bitbake procps -e doesn't conain this run dependency for procps-sysctl
<dvergatal>
and in pkgdata-pdata-input/runtime/procps-sysctl i get RDEPENDS:procps-sysctl: procps-sysctl-conf

Hi, any comment, why openssh10 has been reverted from master-next? commit msg does not give any info
<mcfrisk>
piie: likely breaking tests
<piie>
mcfrisk: do you know whether there's somewhere a testcase execution overview, where I could confirm your assumption?
<mcfrisk>
usually there is feedback on mailing list with links to failing builds/tests
<mcfrisk>
it may be that RP is debugging things in master-next and trying to find the failure root cause(s)
<piie>
ok, thanks for this info, will seek the mailinglists
<lainwir3d>
Small question, is there a "function hook" that triggers on the creation of the final wic filesystem? I want the inode number of the files to match what's going to be on the final filesystem, so adding a function on IMAGE_POSTPROCESS_COMMAND doesn't really work
<RP>
piie: it breaks testimage of anything which includes openssh :(
<RP>
piie: I've not gotten around to replying on the list yet :(

Hi, I'm trying to debug a potential bug somewhere in gdb/gdbserver where I get ocassional crashes/memory corruption during dynamic library loading.. does anyone know what to set in yocto to get gdb with all the debug symbols so I can get a more complete backtrace?

Any tips or tricks are welcome. I'm cross-debugging a ppc32 target that runs off an nfsroot, happened with both kirkstone and scarthgap versions of things, it is not related to yocto per-se but maybe there's tools or flags I can include in the build to better understand or troubleshoot

RP: I am looking for your change for toolchain selection bit but it is not in master-next
<RP>
khem: no, I dropped it for now
<khem>
Can you share it ?
<khem>
I am reworking clang patches and I will work on getting it in shape
<RP>
khem: I've mailed you the bit of the patch I didn't merge
<khem>
cool thanks
<RP>
khem: I did merge the rest of it
<RP>
khem: it is really simple
<khem>
yeah :)

I am adding clang definitions and perhaps have a minimal patch ready by end of this week
enok has quit [Ping timeout: 252 seconds]
<khem>
with clang we also need cases where we can use clang as host native compiler as well, e.g. qtwebengine, chromium etc need it
<khem>
I have clang-native.bbclass for this
<khem>
is there some elegant way you can think of bring it in ?
<khem>
for now I can leave it in meta-clang as plan B
<khem>
ah maybe like build-gcc create a build-clang.inc
<khem>
but that is system-wide with bbclass it can be in recipe namespace
<khem>
RP:since meta-clang is borked right now, my plan is to bring minimal clang bits so we can build clang+llvm once which can be used for mesa and static compiler needs and leave the bits for choosing different clang flavors etc. out in meta-clang
<khem>
right now we are build clang+llvm with llvm recipe in core and throwing away clang bits and then doing same when meta-clang is in use, this time trying to throw away llvm bits
<khem>
firstly we are building more than we need and as we know llvm is not a light component.
florian_kc has joined #yocto
<khem>
secondly, llvm in core as such is not directly consumable by clang compiler either so better option is to merge that first
<khem>
so we can use one recipe to build for both needs

khem: I was wondering about my patch for the native case too - you can see how I moved some of the definitions to another file for native too
<RP>
khem: I'd agree having one recipe might be a great first move

RP: I am running into one limitation of toolchain/* selection, it is not possible to do at recipe scope in its current form
<khem>
ideally default TOOLCHAIN = "gcc" so use it if nothing else is specified, but then user can set TOOLCHAIN = "clang" in local config metadata, however we allow certain recipes to stick to either gcc or clang because of their legacy
<khem>
thats not possible now by setting TOOLCHAIN variable in recipe
<khem>
currently the TOOLCHAIN variable works as above
