<landgraf> I've added PROVIDES="A" to my A-bin_{PV}.bb recipe and this set PV to 1.0 o_O even if I'm building A-bin. Is it expected?

enok has quit [Ping timeout: 245 seconds]
<landgraf> ok. wrong, it set 1.0 only for package A (the one provided). Is there a way how to prevent this?
<landgraf> I can set PV="1234" in the recipe itself but this looks... strange
<RP> landgraf: PV is parsed from the recipe filename by default, I'm not sure how that connects to PROVIDES
<landgraf> RP: yes, it was my expectation. filename (A-bin_1234.bb) does have proper PV in it but it's not connected with PROVIDES it seems
rfs613 has joined #yocto
<landgraf> I can specify PV in the recipe and hope I'll remember to update this in the future...

<Xogium> what is the oldest architecture in the x86 kind that yocto can build for, out of curosity ? As in i386, etc ?

<RP> Xogium: for a long time we had i586. The compilers still support some really old targets so it probably depends what your kernel would support
<kylex> khem: Thank you for reply. This is the commit which adds the link making: https://github.com/yoctoproject/poky/commit/9a309684cfff5e1de3dbcc9690fc73d344e63ecd It seems to make building with TCLIBC=glibc remove the files built with TCLIBC=musl.

<Xogium> RP: this thing's most likely x86, from what I can infer, 86duino educake, with a vortex86ex
<Xogium> er sorry i586

<leon-anavi> Hi khem, there are a couple of open GitHub pull requests in meta-raspberrypi for updating mesa. They have been pending for 5-6 months. Do you have the permissions to merge PR in this layer? I haven't seen Andrei for a while. Does he still have the time to maintain the layer?

<Guest97> hello and apologies if that was answered before but am in the process of writing a bbappend and am creating a function called do_unpack_append and that function seems to be parsed as python by bitbaake therefore errorring , could someone tell me what I have missed here?
<Guest97> sorry do_unpack:append () {echo "function called"} and I get "SyntaxError: invalid syntax" when calling bitbake -c cleanall <recipe>
leon-anavi has quit [Quit: Leaving]
<Saur> Guest97: What do_unpack:append () really does is to just add on to the original do_unpack() function. This means it must be written in the same language that do_unpack() uses, which is Python. There are other methods to use if you want to run a shell function after do_unpack().
<landgraf> and the method is listed in the email thread :)
