<Saur_Home> JPEW: Do you have any explanation for this: https://pastebin.com/YRMJ986F ? Is there any way to save my local HE database, or should I just wipe it and start over? Also, it would probably be good if failure to start the local HE server actually causes an error from bitbake and aborts the build...
<JPEW> Interesting. Is there any way you could let me see your database?
<JPEW> I'm out right now but I can look tomorrow

<RP> Saur_Home98: they're two separate things so bitbake would need to error out on ConnectionRefused. Are you saying bitbake didn't stop?
<Saur_Home98> RP: If you look at the output I provided in the pastebin link, bitbake does stop later when it tried to communicate with the non-started HE server. But it took me a very long time to figure out that I needed to look at bitbake-cookerdaemon.log to figure out what really happened.

<sky_> Hello Everyone, does anyone know proper way to execute yocto-check-layer tool? I am trying to execute the yocto-check-layer tool on my project is it necessary to have a local build first of my project and then execute yocto-check-layer tool or I can execute it on clean clone. I tried on clean repo but it is giving many errors that are not actually a error.

<pvogelaar> Does anyone know what the maintainer status is for meta-lts-mixin for the kernel branches? They seem a bit outdated.

<pvogelaar> @denix is there still work ongoing? because it seems that it is stopped in July last year
<pvogelaar> If not I would try to add 6.6 to it

<aladyshev> Hello! In the investigations of my problem with `devtool modify linux` I have discovered that part of that problems are generated from the commit https://git.yoctoproject.org/yocto-kernel-tools/commit/?id=923a9de418b3ca8592c3fd0a0d0b1e4b29533891 This commit is very simple and just add --no-verify flag to the `git am` command. The problem is that
<aladyshev> this flag was added pretty recently  (Jan 5 2023 - https://github.com/git/git/commit/566902f2db3bdad9be7fb083c713f0d21acf111e)  and my host git doesn't have it
<aladyshev> Is it normal that yocto relies on such modern git? Because the yocto documentation just says `Git 1.8.3.1 or greater`
<aladyshev> And `git am --no-verify` works from something like `v2.31.6` apparently

<sev99> Hi all! I'm using the `testimage` functionality (for the first time) to run some tests on an already running QEMU instance with `simpleremote`. From my experiments, it seems that this requires a build has been previously completed in order to run, despite already having a running instance of QEMU with the latest software running. Is there a way run
<sev99> `testimage` for an image without having to do a complete rebuild? I have not used `testexport` as that does not seem to support custom targets, which is my ultimate goal.

<qschulz> tlwoerner: BTW, if you use `b4`, `b4 trailers -u` automatically picks up the Reviewed-by tags sent on the mailing list :)
<qschulz> tlwoerner: just thought of this because if you had used it, you probably wouldn't have noticed I gave two different mail addresses for my Rewviewed-by tag :)

<EricBlade> hi all :-) might be a bit of a silly question, but... is there a way to tell bitbake that it should prioritize fetching a certain set of packages at the beginning of a build?  i've got a couple of packages from servers that are so slow they may as well be dialup or transoceanic connections, and they are sort of bottlenecking things
<moto-timo> I started a b4 for layer maintainers blog post, mostly from a long ago IRC conversation with qchulz
<EricBlade> sort of like "hey, y'know, you're really going to need your os kernel, so maybe we should just go ahead and download that at the very start, so maybe by the time we're ready to build things that need it, it's already here"
<moto-timo> But I am currently bogged down with the fact that AUH patches from the ML and patchwork do not quite work with b4 shazaam or git pw patch apply. It's just one of those things that we almost have correct.
<moto-timo> so my own workflow as a recipe maintainer is not working well with b4 or git pw.
<moto-timo> other patches sent to patchwork do usually work.
<simonew> Hi, is it a goal to remove CVE_STATUS for say incorrect cpes if e.g. NVD updated the database with a corrected cpe?
<JaMa> EricBlade: that's what DL_DIR and PREMIRROR is for, stop abusing upstream dialup servers

<mischief> anyone have advice on how to correctly do license compliance for header-only C++ dependencies?

<khem> it is subjective since headers may have code which is not APIs only

<mischief> khem: yea but i'm wondering how can we do the compliance within yocto's existing framework of license tracking, i.e., making sure that the license of a different recipe ends up in the manifest even if it wasn't part of RDEPENDS
