Hi, is there any policy about board specific prompts, like "VExpress64# "? What was the reason for them in the first place, just legacy? Shall we move to the generic "=>" wherever possible?

Note that changing the default on existing boards creates disruption for things like test automation.

Legacy, and also yes, changing the prompt can screw up test automation depending on how picky the previous prompt was and also the framework

our tests check for the configured prompt, so is fine.

i'm building u-boot from source and have a precompiled device tree blob for the target and i'm unclear as to a) when (or if) it needs to be placed in the source tree b) where to place it and c) the role of the DEVICE_TREE= environment variable

thank you, very helpful - i was unaware that `git-grep` existed, so thanks for that as well - i've always just used combinations of grep and find and such

yeah, it's very useful since you can grep for thing in other branches; you can also do stuff like `git grep SPL_FOO '**/Kconfig'`

yeah, i'll add that to my stack of things to read about - that was a very useful way to show it via the actual command you used, rather than just saying "look in this magic file"
