novakane: Maybe, but I think spawn tagmask would need to grow accordingly

As a person who used River on multiple outputs, I only did so because I just wanted a bigger monitor than my laptop.
<plumeus>
But it was annoying to send all my tags from one output to another every time I connected to a monitor

have been thinking about a neat way to create small graphical applications recently and am now wondering whether it makes more sense to have a dedicated drawing-server sitting on top of river, or maybe an executable that any program can execute in a subprocess and communicate with through pipes
<leon-p>
basically I want to make it very simple to offer a graphical frontend in my things without having to write wayland code or link any wayland libraries

Hey, would somehere have an idea why Zotero or JabRef (which are weird applications that do not use GTK or any standard UI toolkit directly) launch in HiDPI in Gnome, but won't in River or Sway ? What I can tell is that both apps launch via X in River/Sway, but I can't launch xeyes in Gnome so idk there.
<xaltsc>
would someone*
<leon-p>
try unsetting DISPLAY when launching them
<leon-p>
they may default to X
<leon-p>
or maybe they are not wayland native at all and gnome integrates xwayland differently
<xaltsc>
Yeah they're definitely not Wayland native
<leon-p>
then no idea, xwayland is weird and does weird things
<novakane>
leon-p: something like that would allow to make river-tags-overlay or like a bar without bothering with Wayland?
<leon-p>
novakane: not river-tag-overlay, as that needs wayland to talk to river to get the tags, but a bar maybe
<leon-p>
I was more thinking about a graphical frontend to nfm
<novakane>
right, could be interesting, seems like a lot of works though lol
<leon-p>
eh, mostly just copy-pasting and glueing together code I have already written for other projects plus designing a simple protocol. I'd say maybe one or two weeks for a POC, given enough time
<novakane>
that's because you doesn't count the time to review the nfm completion patch in that :P
<novakane>
you've got too many ideas :D
<leon-p>
well, I was thinking I am already at ~30% of having written an entire desktop environment, so why not go all the way? :D
