<GreaseMonkey> what firewalls are provided by the OpenEmbedded kernel? seems iptables and nftables aren't there
vagrantc has joined #riscv
<GreaseMonkey> also would using the kernel in debian unstable break things or would it boot just fine
<GreaseMonkey> i'll probably stick to the same dtb if that can work
<vagrantc> debian unstable is 5.10.x, pretty sure it doesn't have support for unmatched
<GreaseMonkey> ah damn
<GreaseMonkey> in which case what would it take to get a kernel which *does* work with the unmatched *and* has either nf_tables or ip_tables ?
<vagrantc> though should release soon and then new kernel versions should start landing again
<GreaseMonkey> or whatever other firewall is there

<dh`> given that iptables has been in the kernel for almost twenty years, most likely all you'd need to do is recompile the kernel you have
<vagrantc> at least one person reported with a minor tweak to the .dtb 5.12.x was working, too

<rjek> Woo. Unmatched board turned up, in a very fancy box with a claim that will date rapidly
<enthusi> hehe
<enthusi> mine is sheduled to arrive today as well!
<enthusi> I am currently preparing an SD card with the latest image from here
<enthusi> since I'd assume that the provided SD card may not hold the latest one?
* rjek plans on popping an NVMe SSD in it with Debian
dobson has quit [Quit: Leaving]
<enthusi> but also based on freedom sdk? So you still need that image but also write it to the ssd from within the unmatched
<rjek> Probably using the kernel from that yeah
<rjek> At least until it's all upstreamed

<TwoNotes> geist and sorear, I had some mistakes in the PMP config bitmasks. That works now. And Inow stall Hart 0 and let Hart 1 run. It takes some gyrations in GDB to make it debug a different Hart but that now works too. (See GDB section in QEMU manual)
