cfbolz changed the topic of #pypy to: #pypy PyPy, the flexible snake https://pypy.org | IRC logs: https://quodlibet.duckdns.org/irc/pypy/latest.log.html#irc-end and https://libera.irclog.whitequark.org/pypy | the pypy angle is to shrug and copy the implementation of CPython as closely as possible, and staying out of design decisions

<cfbolz> Matti and I have a guest post on the risc-v international blog: https://riscv.org/blog/2023/05/how-to-speed-up-the-emulating-process-with-pydrofoil-carl-friedrich/
<fijal> yay!
<larstiq> cool!

<mattip> the 3.10.11 update went OK, there are a few new failures on py3.10
<mattip> I am working through most of them, the test_iter one looks hairy
<mattip> it is in response to https://github.com/python/cpython/issues/101892, where exhausting an iterator crashed CPython
<mattip> that test fails differently on PyPy, we raise ValueError: generator already executing
<mattip> maybe that test is an edge-case and we can add it to the TODO list, not really important
<mattip> cfbolz: the intro turned out weird, I am both an author and someone "thanked"
<cfbolz> mattip: yeah, but well. my name is also wrong ;-)

<mattip> oh well. "The only thing worse than being talked about is not being talked about"

<nimaje> hm, that post seems to contain a broken link, github gives me a 404 for https://github.com/pypy/pypy.org/blob/blog-pydrofoil/posts/2022/12/jit-bug-finding-smt-fuzzing.html (which seems like it should be a blogpost itself, so why does it point to github?)
<nimaje> and one paragraph says that using the sail emulator to boot linux needs over an hour and another says it needs about 35 minutes
<nimaje> seems like the broken link should instead be https://www.pypy.org/posts/2022/12/jit-bug-finding-smt-fuzzing.html
<cfbolz> nimaje: yes, but it's a real mess to edit it, it involves emails to a stressed public relations employee
<cfbolz> so we are a bit out of luck
