I'm not sure I completely understand what you are looking for when you say that you remove components with identical weights/distances

if I said, in one iteration of the algorithm, that A->B with weight 1 and C->D with weight 1, but I only picked A->B and did not pick C->D, then the next iteration would pick C->D

so I don't think that I understand the requirement well enough to comment... but I suspect that with some modification, whatever you are trying to do should be possible :)
