Is it possible to boot Maemo Leste on N900 in different partitions configuration? I want boot partition to be 3rd partition and rootfs partition to be 4th partition

I guess changing U-Boot item file isnt enough

<arno11>
yes thx
<arno11>
Wizzup: sicelo: btw generic pwm-ir-tx seems a bit unstable and timers seems not perfect
<arno11>
i mean pwm-ir-tx works when it wants to work and it seems not possible to send correctly a single pulse (sending quickly several same pulses works)
vahag has joined #maemo-leste
<arno11>
repeating quickly the same pulse is the way i use to control my cd player for example
norayr has joined #maemo-leste
<arno11>
so not ideal
<sicelo>
oh, that sucks
<sicelo>
maybe we should look at the old driver first and see if we can fix it?
<arno11>
yes i think that's the best way
<sicelo>
however, we could also just ask linux-media to help us make the pwm-ir-tx work better
<sicelo>
but sure, if you think n900-ir is better option, let's look at it :-)
<arno11>
yes because according to forums like raspberry ones, there are lot of troubles with pwm-ir-tx
<sicelo>
mmm, i see
<sicelo>
but then are we sure old driver wouldn't have these issues?
<arno11>
yes i'm pretty sure
<sicelo>
if it really wouldn't have the issues, maybe whatever it does better should get ported to pwm-ir?
<sicelo>
let's see if we can grab the crash/oops from old driver, and take it from there
<arno11>
yes agreed but how
<sicelo>
or do you have another idea how we can fix the older driver?
<arno11>
maybe we can look on dts parameters first, it sounds really unclear
<sicelo>
< arno11> yes agreed but how --> well, Wizzup has serial, but he's got his hands full :-)
<arno11>
ok :)
<Wizzup>
I will be home in ~5 days and have access to the serial
<arno11>
cool
<sicelo>
i'm quite sure the dts is fine ... N900 is the only consumer for that older driver, so driver and dts are very unlikely to be out of sync
<sicelo>
arno11: i don't recall exactly where now, but something i read in the past led me to believe there's a timing issue with the older driver, responsible for that oops
<arno11>
ok interesting because timing seems the main issue for the generic one as well (but with no oops)
<sicelo>
anyway, let's wait for the crash info. hopefully it will help us
<arno11>
yes
vahag has left #maemo-leste [Error from remote client]
<sicelo>
as far as the hardware/electronics goes, it's really just straightforward - IR LED connected via a transistor to a CPU pin
<arno11>
yes really basic
<arno11>
btw if we have the cpu pin number, another driver seems possible to use according to raspb forums
<arno11>
gpio-ir-tx iirc

sicelo: ah ok so impossible to use
<sicelo>
yes. we either need to get pwm-ir to play along, or fix n900-ir
<sicelo>
i want to think asking the linux-media people for suggestions about the delays could help for pwm-ir. i haven't looked at both drivers in-depth, but i don't expect they're doing something completely different from each other
<sicelo>
will see if i can find time to look later on
<arno11>
ok :)
